Sat in the back garden having a whiskey, listening to the birds after embarrassing myself on a night out on the foxes, first one, didn’t see it until the last minute because I was looking over the top of it, I couldn’t of kicked it, second one, a cub, clean miss, it wasn’t even that far away, if you don’t hear from me for a bit, it’s because I’m sat in a dark room rocking back and forwards crying ?6 points

It's hard to make a judgement on a photo, but I like to see a bit puppy fat on a pup ? Cheers.5 points

I’m sitting here for the last two hours watching the most amazing sky and at last the little bugger has appeared. He/she is flitting about like a banshee. The sky is amazing so will put one up.4 points

Took my lad camping the other week, farmers chickens have been getting snatched.. took him to a copse bout 1/2 mile from farm and let him take his 410 as said bandit would be close do between two houses! he didn’t find the culprit but smashed a woody that he couldn’t find in the overgrown copse.. but he found the remains of palmers chickens and some cubs. Was a great night doing it again this weekend4 points

So long as space and weight aren't an issue you cant beat a canvas tent with wood stove for portable winter camping. I have stayed out for up to a week a few times in temps down to the minus 30s and loved it.4 points

I’ve never had a saluki pup with puppy fat on them. And I’ve found Salukis feet are longer and not as tight as other lurchers.. they probably have the best feet of all too.. but with regards to the actual question asked; I take mine out from a very early age. Bushing, mouching about, etc.. I would intentionally lamp a rabbit until about 11/12 months old, but I would have expected them to have seen and chased plenty of rabbit just much about in the day time,3 points

I once had a funny encounter too, I was at a campsite sat by the river with my bat detector on. A couple and 2 children walked past and stopped. He said are you checking for radiation? I said no, it's a bat detector. His wife laughed and said there's no bats in this country so I pointed at them and said what are they then? She and her 2 girls screamed and ran off lol.3 points

Looking at that dogs lack of muscle tone flat feet and long nails I would hazard a guess it doesn’t get out much.3 points

i used to work on a caravan park about 20 years ago and one evening i was talking a guy sat on his decking that was catching moths that were drawn to his outside light and he was holding theses moths by the legs while the wings were flapping and bats were swooping down and taking them out of his hand3 points

Enid Blyton? " Nature Lovers Book Number 1: Rambles With Zacky The Gypsy " Never forgotten that one. Zacky, a bloke living on his own, who children could approach without anyone suggesting he was a paedo. He was friends with a toad. Had a fox come visit him, as well as a boy and a girl. Everything was considered cosher and above board with that, in those days though. Blyton explained; " Zacky was nice and welcomed by the farmers. He wasn't like the other Gypsies. He never said, 'Comeer; Wud ya be bayin a jet washer?'. No derv, chain saws or ATV's vanished when he came through. H3 points

Only five , not really possible! And that's not half of em? Ones l never tire of. CRAZY HORSE AND CUSTER by Stephen( Band of Brothers) Ambrose. Well written with the fortunes of the main characters cleverly entwined without compromising the facts. HISTORY OF A PEOPLE by T R Fehrenbach. Again by Fehrenbach , LONE STAR. The history of Texas. Heavy reading according to some but enthralling to me . Detailed and very atmosperic. ON THE BORDER WITH CROOK. John Bourke. A first hand account of military campaigning in the American West. Not just limited to army3 points

That pup seems to genuinely valued and will being given every chance to develop into a healthy, happy adult. Probably wont be swapped or sold on in 12 month time. A nice thread.3 points

Here is a few pics of my mates cabin where we hunt, we put it up at the start of season and take down in December, 3 layers of tarp for the roof with clear plastic 2 layer windows, way more room and comfort. Chairs, mattresses, woodstove, pans and rest of gear with little value is stashed in a locked shed through the year to save carting it in and out. His old man built it in the 80s. Miles from anywhere and quad / Argo/ snowmachine only to get to. Again stayed in this for up to a week to minus 30s with no problems.3 points

I have a this years saluki/greyhound and was wondering when do they roughly reached there too speeds and what age is best to start them hunting rabbits. I’ve been told to get him starting here and there at a odd rabbit at 7months and then start him properly at 12 months? wanted to here others opinions2 points

I think they don’t get there full speed till around 15 months old, you can start doing bits and bobs from 8 months just don’t overdo it2 points

These are little fellas about the size of a sparrow. Trying to get a pic is going to be tricky. Might follow Greyman with the trail cam idea.what breed might this be.? Jok.2 points

Happy with how this has turned out, took me longer than someone who knows what they are doing, but I don’t think it’s bad for a first attempt ?2 points

Whilst they are pups they produce an enzyme called lactase which breaks down lactose, the sugar in milk, as they get older they stop producing it so are no longer able to break down lactase and so it passes straight through. So milk from any source as pups will give calories, calcium etc but as adults just a drink, bit like flavourwater but can cause loose stools in some. As an aside humans that have a pastoralist background tend to have evolved to produce lactase in adulthood hence our ability to digest milk throughout our lives.2 points

Depends what you wanted it for, but I think it would be a handy cross. My “whippet” is 1/4 JRT. Can’t go wrong with a bit of terrier in there.2 points
