A mate of mine that shoots a fair bit of ground in Cumbria asked me to accompany him on a foxing trip on Sunday night. The shots would be a minimum of 250yds and I don’t think he just had the confidence to take them. The set up was to shoot from one hill across a valley to the hill opposite. We arrived in the Jimny in plenty of time and I got him to walk out to the killing area and spread some sachets of dog food about. Best technique I've seen and favoured... the dog grabs the throat/head, then when it's on the deck, switch to a muzzle hold and it's as if they was sucking the last bits of life from em...I don't like big stuff thrashing around making a racket, finish them with a knife everytime....infact everyone I've ever been out with , before the ban,did it the same? I was up on Dartmoor back along and took a mate to see Grimspound supposedly Bronze Age 1300BC. Don't know if any body is interested but I like the stone circles, hut circles, clapper bridges and standing stones etc. A massive circle 150 meters in diameter with the remains of hut circles inside. Shot 2 cubs Friday night. First so far this year. But know where there are a few more that need dealing with. Always amazes me every year people say in march they will be seeing cubs soon. In my experience very rare to see them proper active until end of may in any good amount
