No I'm not - it's all part of the same problem......... the bleeding hearts in this country think that we can solve the worlds problems - we're a small country with finite resources. They might not be going into council houses (yet) but, they'll be rinsing the benefits system, the NHS, school places etc that they've contributed the grand sum of f**k all to. ......... we've seen it all before when the Poles were allowed to claim child benefit for kids that had never set foot in this country. Our own suffer because leaches like this offer nothing more than a begging12 points

Politics have been turned upside down. Now you've got Kier Starmer saying Labour have allways been in favour of nuclear power, and are now the party of tax cuts, whereas the Tories are now the tax and spend party ! In scotland the SNP used North Sea oil and gas revenue as the fiscal bases for independence, now they are in cahoots with the greens, they want to abolish hydrocarbons ! Who knows what their stance will be if and when the lights start going out ? Boris, probably at the insistence of his wife, was gung ho for net zero, but is now pushing for upping North Sea gas and oi11 points

A run up to the sheep farm tonight with longshanx, everything is out in the fields now so we set off towards the bottom of the farm, as we reached the fence separating the two fields I looked around with the thermal and noticed a lamb run from the hedge back, followed by a fox, I was up on the sticks but the fox had made it to the top of the hill and although I could see it it wasn’t a safe shot, the fox then disappeared over the brow, we jumped the fence and headed up the field checking with the thermal, expecting to see it at the top, when we got there it was nowhere to be seen until longsha7 points

I always said a dog bites hard because it wants to bite hard size doesnt really come into it in my opinion.......with a 140 lb half hearted Rottweiller attached to my arm id still feel i had half a chance, with a 32 lb intense focused pit bull attached to my arm id have no chance.....i agree some dogs are just not suited to indoor family life.6 points

Like a lot of people on this thread, my introduction to lurchers came from reading his books in combination with Walsh and the old Lurcher: the journal of running dogs. Everybody I spoke to criticised him but it wasn't until I regularly bought the Shooting News/Countryman's Weekly and read the obvious lies in there that I realized that people were right. Two of my "favourites" were when he announced he was going to breed a strain of merle beardie collie, then announced about a year later that he'd discovered a strain of merle beardie collie in some remote backwater. Another was when4 points

Had an old long netting partner whose collie lurcher was used for several unusual jobs. He was the only dog I've ever seen that would hunt rabbits at night, drive them into the long net, not touch them, and then go searching for more. He could jump hedges like a horse. Lots of dogs will jump fences and gates, not so many can work out hedges. His really unusual job was to act as a spittoon though. Eddie, my mate, smoked a pipe and when indoors, (including the pub) he would spit the contents of his gob onto the dog's back. The dog didn't seem to mind. When it came to its favourite area of g4 points

Got to be the most silliest thing I’ve heard the land is no longer big enough with all the housing an developments plus the size of population to support beavers an the habitat the require hence why they were hunted to extinction next there be saying there wanting to release wolves because it sounds good to the environment an ecosystem…..maybe if the want to go all eco warrior on us they can actually do something productive an eliminate the use of plastics on food packaging4 points

In all honesty mate i can't see that happening the Ukrainians if going on those who have settled here and have fitted in and caused no problem's are anything to go on they will return to their country soon as it's all over like the Bosnians did when we gave them sanctuary in their civil war. Though i still think a better idea would be to keep them together in static caravans' or other similar homes and the money spent on people employed to oversee their welfare.3 points

The newest build of frigates have been named the Inspiration class. But that's about as far as they have let all that nonsense go so far. Generally not realised by the public but the mine hunting fleet is named after foxhound packs. A local pack has a life ring from a decommissioned vessel named after that pack in their kennels. Also, I'm told the horses of the mounted regiments of the Army that were at the Defence Animal Training Regiment would spend all winter hunting with the local packs not so long ago. Just a bit of hunting related military trivia.3 points

I quite like a lurcher to not be over friendly with strangers had a few that loved a sleeve for fun aswell. The young bitch i got loves a squirrel if she stands there looking ya can bet ya last penny theres one there somewhere. Lurchers are funny sort of dogs if they spend alot of time out and about not just hunted and packed away.3 points
