  1. Phil ,I used the same word when I posted my disgust on their page earlier..... embarrassment!!! Then the patronising words that you don't need to take one for the pot nowadays as food is easily available ?....... since when do Cheshire police decide that you only feed yourself in the Tesco as they say so.? If you trespass on land to ferret you get nicked but you can trespass all over private land wearing a balaclava on the weekend call yourself a hunt monitor and at the worst you get asked to leave... Selective policing at its finest, probably due to the fact most lurcher w

  2. In my opinion, that Officer is an embarrassment to his profession.. Considering the awful crimes that are being committed, day in, day out,.. what actual policing work did he do ? Ah yes, he found out that a working dog had not been injected, with an identity chip! The remainder of his amazing capture, was childishly easy.. The trespasser freely admitted to the offence and caused him no problems... Why not save all the paperwork, and simply tell him to gather up his ferrets and nets, and get the feck off the land... What must his colleagues think of him....

  3. Evening all. I usually keep myself to myself on here and enjoy reading and learn from other experiences, but i thought today's events needed sharing! Gained some new permission this year on the land around a cheese factory after randomly talking to the manager about the rabbit problem they had around the gardens and driveways. The rabbit population is good with each days ferreting producing 15 or more rabbits. The down side to the job is it is located very close to the main town and there are footpaths all over the land. Most people either pass on by with out as much a

  5. earlier today, i sadly lost my 5yr old deerhoundx greyhound to bloat, vet did emergency op on him,but sadly he didnt make it,had lots of lurchers in my 6+years on this planet, but first time losing a dog to this, freddie was no world beater, but he was an honest and loyal pal to me, and always gave his best,he kept me going when i was going through a rough time health wise, to say im going to miss him is going to be an understatement, run free freddie my loyal pal, seems to get harder to deal with now im getting older.

  7. Day 5 over with and where do I start, at the beginning I suppose. I’ll start of by saying the weather was absolutely terrible with rain and low cloud, 12 people missing due to bat flu, not ideal, especially when we had 3 guests that I wanted to put a good day on for as guest number 1 is a keeper on a big estate down the road and has helped us out a lot, guest number 2 is a keeper from a big syndicate in Richmond and guest number 3 was a keeper on a farm shoot and as I just play at this I really wanted them to think I had some idea about what I was doing, we gave it until about half 10 and as

  10. I don't know. Think I'm going through a mid life techno crisis. I've been looking at spotters today. I sat at the bait from 4am to 6am this morning. I could see if something was there via the scope alone, and there was no moon. It was magical. Owls all around and above me. Pheasants shouting all around. Two dog fox's barking in the distance. One came my way and was barking in a wood not 200yds away but he never arrived. Probably when I check the camera he probably turned after I left! Any way I got to wondering about spotters. Feel like I'm being pulled down a rabbi

  12. £400 a working mans price ? Times have changed. Working bred pups went to working dog men for free, or a price that would cover the breeding and leave a bit for the breeder to have a pint or two. Dont get me wrong, it's a sellers market, and I don't begrudge lads making a bit on selling pups, if it was what I wanted, price wouldn't enter the equation ! My last two dogs, a teckel and a deer/grey, were gifted, because the breeders knew they'd be worked, but I'd have gladly paid the asking price. But I still feel a little uneasy about "working mans price". Just my o

It didn't help matters that i shot badly into the bargain. The annoying thing is i know what i was doing, stopping the gun, but i did it time and time again. Then after we had our dinner the old sun came out and it was a different day. I also had sorted my act out and started killing birds which saved me from sitting in the armchair that night grouching.

  14. Yeah,. I suppose reading a proud boast, of how a ferreter was collared by a Police Officer, still makes me a bit sad.. Even if the Landowner had reported seeing the fellow, netting up a warren on his land,.. the Officer could still have shown some class and said, "Leave him/them to me Sir,.. I'll give them a proper warning and get them fecked off your land".. Such a task requires no courage or canny police work , after all, a ferreter with nets laid and ferret underground, is unlikely to do a runner.. Rabbiters waiting on a bury are extremely vulnerable,.. they are easily captured .

  17. The pups I was gifted were weened on flesh, chipping, was up to me, they were puppy wormed until I got them. As I said, I don't begrudge people making a bob or two, but there's still lads out there who breed, not for profit, but to keep lines going and to see their pups going to good working homes. Ive had some good bitches I thought of breeding from, but didn't , if I was to breed, it would be for a pup for myself and for lads I knew that would work them. They would be free, any left over would be culled. I would pay any price, within reason, and travel any distance, to get a p

I have a little dog here that can't catch hares but fxxck me she can find them, it's only a matter of time before we end up in trouble, all I can do is act daft enough... it won't be hard.

  23. It was ? To be fair to her it wasn't that bad. She always overcooks beef as she won't have it pink.....but this went in the slow cooker so it was OK. Normally it all breaks up in the slow cooker but this didn't, so fck knows how tough it would be if she had done in the oven. She flirts with the butcher but I think instead of giving her some cheap meat he takes advantage and sells her his tough cuts ?.

I don't know your accommodation situation, but maybe if it's sheltered accommodation you only need one tv licence for the entire property. Any way, if you get jailed, you'll get free telly, three square a day, free dentistry and glasses........result ! ?? ! Cheers.

  30. I used my mouth/hands/grass for years with good success, then I was out on one site, freezing cold and sheltering from the atrocious weather in an abandoned shipping container. I tried calling but my throat/lips were that cold and my fingers freezing I simply couldn't call, so decided to invest in one of these. That must have been over 10 years ago and it's still going strong, still call by hand/mouth a lot just the same, but overall I'm happy with success rate. I don't feel I'm missing out over the apparent abundance of various electronic calls in the market today, but pe

  31. Tim Bonner: Poaching, the Hunting Act and why the hare is the loser 07 Jan 2022 by Tim Bonner Earlier this week the government finally succumbed to pressure from across the House of Lords and brought forward proposals to tackle hare poaching. The Bishop of St Albans had gathered cross party support for the amendments he had moved to the Police Bill and with the prospect of an embarrassing defeat looming Ministers finally published their own amendments which look certain to become law. This was the successful culmination of a long campaign by the Alliance and our colleagues at the CLA, N

  32. We are all odd in our own little ways, it's good to be a little different ? Gary Drayton the English professional metal detector it's from "Oak island" found an incredible gold ring once worth half a million dollars. If I was a kid again I wouldn't mind a year in Australia in the bush prospecting with a detector.

  33. I've all ways been interested in field walking finding stone age flints which I have found loads. Ferreting, fishing, shooting, foraging for fungi mushrooms, Photos etc so I got a metal detector, like I needed another hobby lol. I alway found it interesting and have farms river banks and beaches I can search on. Well river banks near me full of Bullets from an old rifle range and of coarse fishing weighs, drove me mad. Fields all I seem to find is plough shears horse shoes few modern coins and bits and pieces no hoards but here's hoping. Be nice to have a separate section on the forum.

Years ago I was in pattaya,I wasn't there to drink or fornicate,so I had my trusty minelab packed, beach road had hundreds of prostitutes sitting around, I ignored them but a couple followed me down onto the sand ? anyway, after a while they drifted off, I could see a head torch sweeping back and forth,it was a Thai detector it's with a dirt cheap Chinese detector ? I did once bump into a Chinese metal detector it's in Hong Kong at repulse Bay when I was there at night also.

Quite a few boys I no that were into poaching years back are now into hawking, greater rewards for lower risks basically, I bought my misses a metal detector when we moved onto the boat as there is a lot of Roman occupation around here and a few spots on the Severn the soldiers used to cross at low tide, we just haven’t had time to go out and use it yet ??

  36. That’s a fair comment Mark, but shouldn’t need to be remedied by the user, should be done at manufacture. Just my opinion, and it probably wouldn’t stop me buying one, but disappointing really, that you would need to wrap outdoor equipment in a bag to keep it dry.

These new laws will no doubt stop that i could not cope mentally if my dog was confiscated it's only happened once to me nearly 30 years ago and the dog was back with me within 3 days after a tip off from a copper who thought the keeper's were out of order taking the dog which did not go down without a fight from me that landed me in crown court on numerous charges.
