  1. The distance is governed by the land the have, most tracks are,or were, on miners welfares. lets get this right, I'm not classing non-ped with coursing bred, hounds for grounds, as they say. Non-peds have been bred for generations, best to best, to get the fastest dog over the chosen distance, they want the speed of the greyhound and the size of the Whippet, and have near as damn achieved it. Coursing dogs, the same, best to best for generations for coursing hares. The difference is, a coursing bred will never win a race against a non-ped, and a non-ped will just about allw

  2. Evening guys hope this post is allowed. I have recently learnt how to colour black and white photos on Photoshop. I've been doing some of sighthounds and posted them on Instagram (sighthoundsincolor). If you post any black and white photos of lurchers or sighthounds i will attempt to colour them for you. All I ask in return is that I can post the end result on my Instagram (can crop people if desired) This is just a daft winter hobby of mine that's helping me improve my it skills. As a thanks for reading, I've attached a stunning bull lurcher from ww1, I wouldn't want t

  3. All this talk of cali strains or latests weed cup winners is all well and good but you have to realise that theyve probably been created in near perfect conditions or some Dutch lab with no expense spared.See how they do growing them in your garage or a tent in your loft in when your trying to keep it warm in december or cool it down in summer and your humidity is bouncing around all over the place.Id sooner go for a couple of good old hardy tried and tested strains that you know aint gunno go over with shock just because youve warn a different colour T shirt than what you did last time you we

  6. Well I tried following a barking fox last night. The thing just plays games with me! I've been feeding it or them. The swine or swines were there 730pm, midnight and 5.30am. I was there between 9.30 and 11.30pm ?

  17. I wouldn't disagree with you about after the first bend, but you said a whippet never leads up, I agree again, but as I've pointed out, I'm talking about non-ped whippets, a completely different animal You don't seem to be able to differentiate between the ped and non-ped whippets, I have owned and ran both, and pure Saluki and coursing bred and most other types of running dog, and I'm speaking from personal experience. yes, of course no one is arguing that the Saluki hybrid coursing bred is the best hare dog, but to say they will allways lead up a non-ped Whippet is very naive and i

  18. I'm talking about non-ped whippets, nothing like ped whippets, and if you think any dog can lead up a top class non-ped, you're dreaming, but I'm sure you're on a wind up. Either that or you've never seen a non-ped ! ? Cheers.

  19. Ferreting if you don't have an over view of all the holes is a nightmare. Personally I would never put a ferret in holes on the side of a bank of cover where if the ferret surfaces you won't see it. I will do a hedge on my own because I use bells and the ferret is likely to go up or down the hedge and not in the field. Also the dog is the other side so he would tell me if the ferret surfaced. A dog can make all the difference and bells for me are more important than a locator

  22. this lads only six month old.. got him off a keeper that's been breeding them for bout six year. wasn't to sure at first as me last dog was a Brittany and a mint busher.. this little fcukers right up there already, he'll pile into any cover and scrambles over walls on the moor! first time I took him out with sg he flushed this, I only pricked it but he was on it straight away and finished it off. got photos of parents at work and I saw them when I got him.. they work fox well.

  23. I’d question why you would breed from a bitch that wasn’t fast enough… there’s plenty of fast hare killing dogs/bitches on the ground without trying to recreate the wheel

  32. Loads of good advice ?. The fact that you are bothered to ask is a positive step. I incorporate all: Tug toys, using a confined space, train without other dogs, long line. I'd add that 6 to 12 months can be unbelievably frustrating as most dogs will be pushing boundaries. Keep calm as poss and I'd recommend fun and low key reinforcement of sit / down / stop / stay come; every day so at least there is basic obedience. I use treats but also praise by stroking and talk at the same time With retrieving I expect 95% with toys like mini tyre (made by Kong, they bounce like bolting rabbit

  34. My Son used to own a Goliath Bird eating spider that lived under a coconut who was partial to a cricket as soon as it picked up just a slight tremor that a cricket was present in the tank a leg used to appear from under the coconut, and what happened next was only what can be described as your worst nightmare. I remember it well he owned it on base when he was in the RAF he got posted to Afghanistan and the dickhead he trusted it with turned off the heat mat and alas that was the end of Trevor, I offered to look after but my Mrs threatened divorce ?

  35. Tug training is the best way I have found to teach a pup to retrieve and it’s simple and you can do it sat in the chair in the kitchen. Apart from one ignorant saluki x every other running dog I’ve had has been a natural retriever when brought up with the tug training.

  36. This is a quarter of a Chicken which I bought for Christmas dinner but as I had a cough and a cold I could not have dinner with my sister and brother in law. My brother in law is getting over Cancer and his immune is very low due to chemo treatment. So this 9lb Chicken which I had off a mate who grows them free range in a orchard. So I cut it into quarters and froze them. That quarter weighed over two and a half pounds and the legs are over one and a half. Was bloody delicious. Cheers Arry
