Very very recently I found out a friend of mine committed suicide. 31yr old. Top lad. Life of the party. Recently married. So much life left. Yet he felt he had no other option that to hang himself in some shitty digs down south. Why/how does it get to this? He had so many people that loved him and would give him all week if he asked or opened up. No one suspected anything. With what we have all been through this last couple yr, what is going to come in the next couple and the pressure that still sits on the man to be the bread winner and have the best house and best car etc I expect11 points

A twin-engine passenger plane has an engine failure and the altitude is decreasing rapidly. The pilot speaks over the intercom, "I'm sorry it has come to this ladies and gentlemen, but unfortunately we are going to have to jettison the luggage in order for the aircraft to remain airborne." Baggage is thrown out but still the plane's altitude continues to decrease. Once again the pilot gets on the intercom, "I hate to do this but in order to save the majority we are going to have to start off-loading some passengers. The only fair way is to do this alphabetically, so we'll start with the lett11 points

Funny I was just wondering what the rates of suicide are in country,s were people have nothing but are happy and still look out for one another in comparison to us that surround ourselves in false shite to try and make ourselves happy while treading on each other to get it, I would imaging it’s quite a contrast, ??10 points

Not sure this looks that appetising to be honest. A mix of wild mushrooms on toast cooked with smoky bacon in olive oil and garlic. Hen of the woods, Horse Mushrooms, Terracotta Hedgehogs, Chanterelles, Cep Bolete and an Oyster mushroom was handsome. Cheers Arry9 points

These days it seems like everyone's to wrapped up in their own lives to give any consideration to others around them ... sometimes a friendly word,a good morning, how are you?can make a massive difference to how some folks are feeling?7 points

Since I moved on to the boat, you notice little shifts in seasons and natures patterns a bit more, over the last few moon phases the owl activity appears to increase the closer to a full moon we get, Thursday full moon owls going off everywhere from the moment it got dark, last night no moon heard my first one at 2,30 am and then only one or two, just a little observation I thought I would share ???6 points

If uv got a lamp, air rifle and ferrets best way to learn is to just get yourself out after em as much as possible. Every escaped rabbit and unsuccessful trip out will be a learning curve ( nowt wrong with asking for advice aswel mind ?) but u carnt beat just just getting amongst it to learn your field craft and those first bits of success priceless. My only regret Is not getting into running dogs sooner . Was always more involved in the shooting an went into keepering at a young age so always had labs. Always fancied a lurcher of some sort an always admired a nice lurcher [BANNED TEXT6 points

Sitting here reading these genuine heart felt stories just makes me very, very sad. And the worst of it is, this is the story of millions of people, it must be, a small hunting forum with a limited number of contributors can’t be in any way so special that it has a higher than average count of people who have been touched by these issues. I don’t know if I’m right or wrong but I have said for years that the various pressures put on people today are terrible and it seems the screw only gets turned more and more on folks. The demands of living today are abuse in any other sphere o6 points

When you have mental health problems , you think the world and people would be better off without you , you don't think they'd be upset to see you gone ect ect .. Drink and drugs may play a big part for some , but there's plenty of people who don't do either yet they suffer and get suicidal with mental health problems6 points

It's really complicated, I understand that after working in that sphere for a few months, really complicated ? Cheers, D.5 points

I don't know if this is right or not but hobbies and interests I think help. I like gardening and you have to plan ahead and watch the rewards. I am keen at foraging, fishing, ferreting now started metal detecting as if I needed another hobby. But it keeps the mind active thinking where you are going what bait you are going to use where you might find stuff wether that be fungi or treasure if you get what I mean. I have had some massive up sets in my life losing one of my lads 19 years ago and more recently my 16 month old granddaughter in the spring. In my view keeping active and having to pl5 points

Good post mate. I like a bit of banter with people on the checkout or people serving table etc. Also having good relations with neighbours and caring for folk. The old lady across the road I did her shopping and gave her at least three hot meal a week, was easy to make a little extra and do you know it made me feel good helping out. BIess her she was 94 I think and passed about a year ago now. I am lucky, I live in a small town in Devon where people do seem neighbourly obviously it's not the same everywhere. I take a neighbour some mushrooms they bring round some apples etc. In my opinion this4 points

And there you have it brother, a bloke being the change he wants and having an affect much wider than himself…..didn’t cost him a thing to do it and he is remembered for it. I read a really good thing in a novel once, the main character was talking to his elderly mum and saying how he felt helpless in the face of a big situation with powerful people who would overwhelm him and his loved ones.…..so he was probably going to turn his back and leave well alone. His mum slapped him round the face, that being the first time she had ever hit him and said: “God put good and evil in the4 points

Sad to hear that pal, thing is you can’t be with a person in their head 24 7 pal . guilt can eat you alive . My immediate subordinate at work was killed by misadventure a while back , did something daft when drunk and came unstuck. I didn’t sleep for a while after with guilt knowing that not one person said “nah don’t do that “ you can’t be responsible for people’s actions all the time pal. the fact he was alone in a digs may have lead to inward looking at themselves and the phone that your unaware of. That’s a bad place to be , society, money , relationships all play a part4 points

This little dog has been showing well for me. He got a coon in a muskrat set this morning. The tube was the size of your fist.He pushed his way through. Most terriers cant fit in a muskrat tube.I realized today just how small this terrier is.When I got home I weighed him out of curiosity. 11 pounds 12ounces.?4 points

That is just so wrong mate ,it's factually wrong and it's the wrong attitude to have . The therapies and treatments have been tested and defined over a long time with a lot of people ,they 99 times out of a hundred know what they are doing ,you may think only you knows about you ,but your ailments arnt unique ,millions of people have been through what your going through ,and the mental health service has seen and helped a lot of them . Go to them with a bit of humility ,assume they know what they're doing ,don't scoff at ideas ,suggestions or treatments that sound silly to you ,be willing3 points

Personally I have tried most there drugs... None have helped and alot of the stronger ones will have you that chilled out exercise gos out the window.. I chose not to take drugs3 points

Doctors giving out anti depressants like they're smarties certainly doesn't help peoples mental health. Drink and drugs another catalyst. I've lost friends over the years to suicide, couple were no surprise if I'm honest and a couple came out of the blue and it's those ones that are hard to get your head around.3 points

Well when you've shot out all the dreys , where I was were lots of hollow oaks or oaks with holes where the squirrels would reside , enter a ferret and no ifs or buts the squirrels would shoot straight to the top branches where I'd dispatch with a gun. I probably bolted a dozen squirrels from a favourite tree...? Had a Hob that used to follow me through the woods like a dog, he was too big for bolting but was a bugger for climbing trees had a few hairy moments preparing myself to catch him on his decent , he only went stupidly high twice I think.3 points

I can only see Crypto as a trap just like leaving the gold standard was a trap…..there is ultimately f**k all value in non existent things other than a value attributed by somebody, somewhere. They can push a button and wipe you out…..taking all your money with them as we have seen governments and banks do time and time again. Real things will always have a value no matter what, when you own it and you can touch it then it’s worth whatever you are prepared to take for it.3 points
