  1. I’ve met David amess he was at a friend of mines funeral he came across as a quiet harmless bloke, Southend is becoming a joke of a place stabbings all the time nobody deserves this for just going about his job.

  2. I agree, it’s tragic mate, blokes got 5 kids…..terrible. However, taken emotion out of it for a second I can’t help but feel that this bloke is part of the party that brought that situation to Southend. I know there was always a bit went on but nothing like the south Essex of today since the clearance of the London ghettos really got started…..and I’ll say this too, it hasn’t mattered all the time it’s been our kids getting plunged for knocking a pint or simply being in the wrong place at the wrong time, nobody wanted to mention it but you can bet your bollocks they will all want to

  3. Policing and politics have changed dramatically in the last few years. I Well remember the miners strike, baton charges by the police, mounted police charges, people arrested and in court the next day. I was on the countryside march to parliament.....same again, heads busted, people arrested. Now we have people tearing down statues, damaging buildings and the police stand by and watch. People gluing themselves to the M25 and the police ask if they are comfortable and do they need anything, people arrested 13 times and never charged , released immediately to do the same agai

  4. I can't believe how quick the year has gone. The seasons change was so rapid. It seems like yesterday I would be out at 3 or 4 am and back in bed for 7am after a quick first light foray. Now it's so dark again. Gone for another year the watching it go dark for a chance at a fox emerging from cover. That was a lamp shy one, but I knew she would be out on fresh cut grass. It looks to be closely related to a vixen I shot whilst chewing the head off a cub two springs back. Another one taken off cut grass on dusk. Now it's night work. No bird song or views. ☹. 9. We finish a fair bit if stock, several thousand lambs a year and around 600-700 cattle. The one thing you lads are underestimating is the effects the processing has on the meat. Butchering, hanging etc has a far greater impact on the look and taste or meat than folk give credit. Controversial opinion - but the stuff you buy in supermarkets is largely the same as folk buy from a lot of small farms. (Excluding random rare breeds).

  14. These are the first 2 of some that sheepchaser gave me. They've been helping clear some ground for me and never had any other feed. It'll be interesting to see what bramble fed sheep taste like. They don't have much fat on them so I will wait and see before I pass judgement

  17. Nice work sd? I’ve always preferred finish work get your tea down and get out back home in reasonable time:) It’s crazy how the seasons change over night, had a couple of cold nights in august when I was working all day in a T-shirt then shivering me nuts off at night. Wanted to re zero the .204 the other night but the nights are drawing so fast it was dark by 6.30 and I couldn’t be bothered fathin about in the dark:( like you I’ve been waiting on a cut that never comes cos it’s rained so much! had the pooch out training yesterday and he’s pretty good at tracking fox?

  19. Bottom line is,...You either use your dogs, or you don't use your dogs,...? I have plenty of places that I can walk over, and hunt , 'proper'.....it is not a problem.... But, for most young bucks and other, super keen lads,.. a wee bit of permission sure ain't gonna to last for long... You can only kill the same bunch of deer and hares once,...then you generally need to move on... Men freelance, because they need to keep on, keeping on....simple as that... So,..it would be ridiculously hypercritical of me to say,.. please don't trespass or poach game,...? Facts ar

I havnt been on the hunting life for a while and just stumbled across it today,..wow what a thread, i knew brian had come down to chrisbullx as foxpack told be at the time, what a good read, that little dogs scream used to send shivers down my spine when i hunted with foxpack, the lurchers would start whining as soon as he spoke, had many an enjoyable day out with them crazy mofo's, and its nice to see the respect foxpack had for brian, awesome little and good luck for the future fellas

  34. This is what I call the marital life boat. When things are good it's a nice thing to hang out in, when things are stormy I can escape into it. In truly terrible storms it can be towed away but I now have it tucked up somewhere I doubt I'll ever move it from. I built it during a particularly stormy time and lived in it for 18 months til the weather cleared. I will never be without it or something similar.

  35. It don’t help that over here at least, most farmers don’t know how much they are getting for their beast until after it’s dead in the factory ! That’s a mental situation. The last beef cattle I kept (which I sold instead of killed) cost buttons to feed and they were in excellent order when I sold them, well fleshed and great condition. They cost me €2 per beast, per week to feed when they were housed over winter……every farmer I told that nearly fell down dead in the floor ! Unfortunately they don’t fit into the system even though they kill out better than almost any other br

  36. imo it's about finishing the stock off properly which you don't see much of these day. Years ago local Butchers had a couple of small fields they would buy bullocks and finish them off putting the layers on. It also used to be proper beef cattle not the mix of bits and pieces you seem to see in fields today. Was on a farm last year and said to the farm "christ John you got them bullocks looking nice" ( South Devons). We had a long conversation about finishing off and he's right most don't seem to bother. As for grass or grain imo it's grass then grain to finish them off. Cheers Arry

  38. Let me educate you lads…….nearly half a million people protested the hunting ban in the prescribed manner to MPs and Parliament with all due concern for motorists, ambulances and Uncle Tom Cobley and got told to go f**k themselves…….. Black Lives matter wrecked the gaff and got a message of support from Cressida Dick, a say and a power way above their numbers in society and a whole nation clapping every f***ing Saturday……. Hows that for a bit of education

Feeding again this afternoon and I feel I’m turning into a proper keeper, I’m constantly angry, about things people haven’t done properly and I’m sick of telling people to put dogs on leads, I also keep finding idiots walking through my drives instead of sticking to the public rights of way, why is it when you tell them they can’t be where they are they look at me like I’m the dickhead Anyway the birds are looking ok, the ones I could find that the dog walkers hadn’t terrorised, they are using every feed area throughout the shoot and with 4 weeks to go this is what I’d expect at this tim
