  1. Had the old deer/grey cross Lima put down today. 12 1/2 year old, retired her at 10. She had mammary tumours for a while, which didn't seem to bother her, but it spread to her lungs and I didn't want to see her suffer so the deed was done. First cross deer/greys seem to have gone well out of fashion these days, and are derided by some, but were the go to dogs back before the Saluki crosses came along, up here at least ! Lima was a decent bitch, all round, considering she was 29" and around 75 lb. She lamped and took daytime hare, fox and roe; had her first go on the wh

  2. An ex American serviceman, had an op and now calls himself a woman. He had an MMA fight and badly beat up a woman fighter. How obscene/ pornographic. It doesn't bother me when people transgender. If they are so unhappy they want to cut bits off their body, that's up to them. But fighting as a woman when his body is clearly that of a man's is just horribly wrong. Using female toilets when you have transgendered is wrong too imo as is placing transgender men in women's prisons or hospital wards. You can make all the intellectual arguments about freedom and sexual identity, but f**k me some t

  3. Yep. 'All' kids carried a sheaf knife, when they were off into the countryside, eh, Tats? I guess the difference then was that it would never enter our tiny little minds to actually pull it out and stick it in anyone! We never dreamed of a knife being a weapon.

  6. I'm old enough to remember when we built ships, railways, mined coal, produced goods that were the envy of the world, and still, just, had an empire. Im old enough to remember when an insult to thick or stupid people was "as far back as the Chinese". Im old enough to remember when we worked for a living, and thought being on benefits was a shame, not a way of life. We saved up to buy what we wanted, or did without. Now it's the throwaway society, the buy it on credit society, the must have the latest gadget society.......and those inscrutable Chinese are only too willing to

  7. I "rescued" one a couple of years ago which I found on my way back from the morning dog walk. I carried it back in my hat as that was all I had to carry it in. I'd noticed some blood on the side of its head and assumed it had been clipped by a car and so took it to a hedgehog rescue place on Hayling Island. The woman phoned me later to give me an update and told me it was extremely dehydrated and that she was fairly sure the injury was consistent with being kicked! Fortunately, despite its initial state and despite her not holding out much hope for it, it survived and was rereleased. Happy end

  8. Never had written permission in my life. And very little verbal come to think of it. Lol. Any thing from a nod to a dirty look from the land owner means full permission has been granted. Being told to fcuk off and don't come back just means he's having a bad day and he'll be grand next time.

  10. They have cut the beans at long last . Even though there was a full moon , I thought I’d have a little look around. The first field of beans had a handful of roe and a few rabbits but no sign of Charlie. On to the second and I could see about 20/30 pheasants roosting down in the bean stubble, I reckon they have been roosting in the beans for ages . Then I spied Charlie on the far hedge row but it disappeared without offering a safe shot . I drove around a newly mown field of silage hoping to see something but was disappointed. I thought I’d have a look at the field where I missed a fox the oth

  12. As most of you know i filled a vacant slot with a Tikka T3 supervarmint 243. It was either fill the slot with something cheap just to fill it or something usable, i opted for the latter. Load development didn't take much work. I decided to use RL15 powder as it is easy to get and my RFD reckons a good powder for 243. I already had a supply of nosler varmageddons 55grn bullets from my last foray into this calibre. So with my usual devil may care attitude and total abandonment of anything safety related i started at the top load and tried them. They where actually quite good from a group point

Young dog dropped and showed about 3 minutes later..so I went to call him and he was gone again... me and a mate who hadn't spoken in about 5 years was with me.. and we were just saying he a big pup probably just curious... about 2 minutes late

  21. Try buying an electrical component thats not traced back to China.. then try building any electrical system without using China... If you go to a UK contractor to build electrical parts for you they will almost certainly be buying the small components from China... if you want a PCB built you'll pay up to 3 times the cost for a UK company to build it, but still have Chinese sourced parts... There is a chance in using US parts and even subbing to a US company (something im looking at) but its not easy or anything like cost efficient.... Even as a UK manufacturing company I have t

  30. Couldn't agree more... I'm not old enough to remember "the good old days" but am old enough to realise British industry is a must... Hence we build everything, we employ people to build it, we have a small production line and another 2 lines coming by the end of this year (more people, more expense but I can say and mean it...Made in Britain). But..... you can not buy small electrical parts without the Chinese involved somewhere... thats it!! It might only be penny parts, but they've got that bit wrapped up... I've been asked a few times now about taking production to

I completely understand that mate, what I mean is, instead of spending 20 billion quid on submarines our governments should be spending 20 billion quid on creating the conditions domestically so that economics don’t dictate you have to go to China. No money to China, money stays at home and everyone can still function. We used to make stuff and I’m sure we could do again if the political will was there.

Plenty of good dogs about just got to put work in and try to get in know and in these circles somehow, don’t blame these circles keeping it tight thou amount of idiots out there.

  38. If you want something bad enough, do it yourself. Start at the beginning and if there's surplus pups as there's likely to be, get them away to working homes. It's unlikely in today's climate that your going to find real deal firstx pups being advertised let's be honest. And if they were available, folk would question whether they were real deal then. You need to go the extra mile literally or do it yourself ?

  39. It's a small opinel for me. I have recently found an old knife I bought as a 13 year old from the old army navy stores along with a few mates who bought the same knife wich we then coverd the sheaf with a treated rabbit skin and nobody batterd an eylid when they saw us walking through the streets on our way to our hunting grounds. Lol.

I love this time of year as it means it’s getting close to starting the season, not far off now ? maybe I am an odd one out but it’s a feeling that will hopefully never get boring and it feels like the build up to Christmas as a kid ??
