She’ll be 18 months next week, few ferreting trips last season but she will be out a lot more going forward, must admit I was a very uncertain how she would be after her leg break but she shows no signs of hindrance, great nose, great recall can find anything if she gets scent… she’s 100 miles an hour though which is my only concern.8 points

Surely if you want to counter the threat of China the safest most sensible way would be to stop buying shit from China and making them rich enough to build themselves into a super power ?……or is that a bit silly ?8 points

Mr Wilf I have nothing in common with people from those big cities.Every Sunday 20 plus members of my family gather for Sunday dinner. Most businesses are still closed on Sunday.Every man and most women have a gun in their pocket and a distrust of big brother. We open doors for ladies. We say yes mam or someone will correct you.If you use the f word in public around our women you will be asked to leave. We still pray at football games and rodeos. The rebel flag still flies here and there is a statue of a Confederate soldier at our local courthouse.I don't want to lose my way of life.I don't7 points

Took my wife's son out for a couple hour's ferreting on Thursday he has only been out one other time and he had a day off work and asked if he could tag along so picked him at 7 and went and did a little paddock set up and it wasn't long before they started to moving after a couple slight cock ups by the stepson they started to pile up ended the day with 15 took the picture at home as I forgot to take me phone6 points

I was out feeding at 5.15 this morning after a rough nights sleep , I’ve got a serious case of “ man flu “ . I was shaking and sweating , coughing and sneezing. I told the Mrs Shovel to get all my affairs in order , not to sell my Miroku too cheaply and make sure she gets a decent amount for the rest of my guns . I’ve had a Lemsip for breakfast and I’m now out dogging in . This might be my last post on THL , I honestly don’t think I’m going to last the day out . It’s been nice knowing you all . What’s that light ? I feel strangely drawn towards it .6 points

Tough going today, first dig of the season for me to a second season bitch. Done very well in a big spot. Tried a couple nothing at home, decided we would try one more before we headed home. Dropped her and she was on quickly. Got a mark in the middle of 10 foot high briars under neath a fallen ivy tree. Took a good while to get in and get the place cleared. It was only about a metre so we Started to dig in the lashing rain and hit layers of shingle rock. Could only chip a layer out with the graft and scoop out the loose stuff. Broke through about 2 hrs later . Back to my mates house for dinne6 points

Today we made a start on the first to do places, the forecast was cloudy but warm, we split up and went or separate ways, it wasn’t long before I got a markresulting in a quick bolt, balled up lovely then all went quiet so out with the locator and a quick dig with the temperature rising we called it a day just before dinner with 38 in the bag, not a bad few hours slowly getting back into the swing of things all nets collars and box supplied by rabbit fever. cheers NEIL B5 points

I wish it would cool down , just been out for a few hours and I was knackered with the heat again, I think it was 20c when I went out and still 17c when I packed up at dusk. Anyway I spotted an old buck on the edge of an old game cover around 180 yds away. I watched him for a while and he gradually moved a bit closer and stood broadside, I was already on the quads but had a bit of buck fever as havent shot a deer for about 3 months . I steadied myself and took the shot dropping him on the spot. What seemed like a good shot however wasnt as I was aiming behind the shoulder but hit him in the b4 points

Top one reckon is the Common Yellow Russell. An edible one but make sure on this link. Common Yellow Russula WWW.WILDFOODUK.COM Very common and well worth putting in the pot although some books belittle this mushroom. Cheers Arry3 points

Do you think it could be done gradually? If people stopped buying Chinese goods the economics aspect would be gradual. I do agree that cutting them off entirely would a bold declaration. I disagree there, my friend. We may not be at the point of directing munitions at each other but the wolf is circling the flock. I agree. I've always maintained that the Chinese make more money through trade than they would with conquest. I do wonder at what the point that would tip the other way.3 points

I think that I’ve never heard of general milley in my life, lol. And I strongly suspect what’s being reported is in reality meaningless but is being delivered by those with strong bias and agenda. Much bigger news is the $50B tech sharing deal between UK/US/AUS to build the ozzies a fleet of 12 nuclear powered attack submarines amongst other stuff. This is not only a serious strategic move to counter China in the east but a bit of a f**k you to France who had a deal with the ozzies to build them diesel electric boats.3 points

Similar here, had been divorced for a year and hooked up with Mrs D mk11 for a few months, work was drying up cos of the recession, started doing a bit of p/t pub work where she was working, "could you do this for a living?" She asked, "yeah, I reckon" I replied, 6 months later with most of my cash spent on training courses etc I'm packing up the Transit and we're moving 350 miles to Cornwall to a live in all found job on half the money I'd been used to making ? Just over two years later we we making good money, fancy cars, holidays clothes etc. 25 years later that's all gone lol, we3 points

You make what I did sound way too noble mate, it was no culmination of a noble quest, it was a decision made on the spare of the moment on a train back from Paris……I kid you not. It was a moment in time when I sat there and thought “Do you know what, I’ve had enough” ! I just didn’t like what I was looking at or where I thought it was heading any more. People think I’m joking when I tell them that but it was no grand plan, it just came into my head (as seems to be my life story ! Lol) and I looked across at the wife and said “Do you know what, I want to f**k off….what do you re3 points

Lots of shite up on that old country blood page. A mate of mine sent in pics of two wheaten x’s and he used the pics no problem , then the dogs both useless and he used his pics without asking a two years on gloating about the dogs and wouldn’t take them down. There’s pics of ‘strong dogs’ on it that wouldn’t pull the socks off a dead man. All he wants is Kerry blues??3 points

Well for joints a bit of cod liver oil, gets you omega 3 too. Hydration is often overlooked for immunity and joints ?2 points

Vitamin C with Zinc is best for boosting your immune system. In general I've found magnesium really helpful for generally having a bit more energy and sleeping better, which of course has a positive effect on your immune system as well ?2 points

Same, I love the new collars no messing about with a screwcap and insulation tape etc just a nice waterproof collar with the magnet to turn it on and off but just can’t get on with the disco box and not just because of the ridiculous noise!!! MK1 boxes are fair superior in my humble opinion.2 points

Big busy day for me up at the shoot today, feeders placed out, feed around the pens, tracks made to get the quad down, new security light fitted and signs ( for dog walkers to ignore) put up for the old girl, I was joined later in the afternoon by a rare beast in these parts, the lesser spotted shoot captain who had brought me half a tonne of wheat, he told me that a couple of members want to help out, (REALLY) they want to do what I do, up there every 48 hours, no matter what the weather or what the missus has planned, oh, it’s the weekend and she wants to go shopping and out for a bit of di2 points

Popped out today intending on decoying corvids again as they have been on a drilled field all week but today they had other ideas. I only shot 4 crows and it was dead so went for a wander looking for squirrels and ended up setting up again on a stubble but still nothing moving and only shot a few birds so decided to go home. As I went through the farmyard I spotted some magpies so decided to give them a try . Glad I did as on this little mooch I shot 3 magpies and another 3 squirrels. I got a unique right and left of squirrel and magpie ? So not too bad a day in the end mopping up vermin with2 points
