  5. Well it turned out to be a great night. 1st port of call was a farm with 3 barley stubbles. I set up in the 1st field and after 20 mins of calling had a cub coming in lovely to hare distress call , shot at around 120 yds but it was a runner dropping after around 50 yds , amazes me at times. Set up on the 3rd field and had a vixen barking her alarm call over the river over the boundary so nothing showed here. On to the next farm and 1st call where I was hopeful produced nothing so headed down to the next field with rushes adjacent a copse. No need to call as spotted a fox straight away , a

  6. I was told long ago that smart phones, smart tv's, Echo's, Alexa's, etc are "listening" to us. Years ago, my late son was a diplomat working in the British Consulate in Saudi and he told me "dad, be careful what words you use when we are on the phone, even a land line, as certain "key words" are flagged up and the government computers are watching for them, and you could get a visit". From the Saudi government, I asked ? Yes, he said, but also from the British government ! So "they" have been listening to us for a long time.......... Cheers.

  8. Not been on here for a while. Had day out at Malton show. At last minute decided to take pip and then decided to try her in the comps when we got there. Few fun ones to start with that kids took her in: Best Lamping Bedlington Cross 2nd Best Running dog any breed 3rd Best cross bitch 2nd Then at the end she went into the 'championship' comp and only managed to bag second place!!! I know a few on here scoff at these things but its for a bit of fun out of season. The misus and kids loved it and so did I. The bitch did us proud. Cracking day out all in all.

  11. How long is a piece of string ? When a working dog is at its peak surely depends on its type, breed, when it was started, what work it's does, what quarry it runs and on what type of land. My old Beddy type worked well until over ten then I retired her. My deer cross worked from one, and caught her first fallow at nine and worked until over ten. One thing I've noticed, it wasn't a gradual decline with my dogs, it came on quite quickly, but a dog of five or six should, reasonably, be in its prime. Just my opinion ? Cheers.

  12. must say i enjoyed watching the bmx tricks event ....great that our girl got the gold...and the fella got the bronze... and fiar play to the lass she fell in the first round...but second round did the same trick...and nailed it...aparantly that trick is one of the hardest to do... also watching the athletics Saturday... the woman that won the tripple jump was some performance and got the world record by some margin with her last jump... then the high jump was good to watch as well....with the two chaps sharing gold was a nice touch

  13. EXCELLENT WRITE UP BOSUN 11 SPOT ON WHAT YOU SAY, IN MY BOOK, IF YOUR DOGS HAVE GIVEN YOU THEIR ALL OVER LONG YEARS THEY STILL DESERVE GOOD FOOD, A WARM BED, AND DEVOTION FROM YOU,IF YOUR A TRUE DOGMAN, THEY DESERVE IT, TILL THE TIME COMES TO SAY GOODBYE TO YOUR LOYAL AND FAITHFUL COMPANION, MIGHT SOUND SOPPY TO SOME ON HERE, BUT TO ME MY DOGS ARE JUST NOTSOMETHING TO BE DISGARDED WHEN THEY GET TOO OLD TO WORK ANY LONGER, BUT THATS JUST MY OPINION.

  20. Me and my mate went down a local rock mark, cracking evening just to get out the house. Night started with a few small eels followed by a few dogs. I had a little rattle and a bit of slack, tightened the slack and put it back down. After a few small rattles I thought I better get this bait in before the b*****d eel rapes my rig. Said to my mate, think it's a dogfish with a bit of spirit and then it started to scrap a bit better. Mate climbed down and fish was still quite deep until the very edge when this little male popped out. Only went 6lb 13 oz but I was still pleased to catch the target s

Ive driven and been in some quick cars and have not yet found an electric car that has the same driving experience a petrol engine has.....to me its like being in something like a flight simulator it almost doesnt feel real,im sure for future generations the excitement of a fast electric car will be everything petrol engines were for us...but folk of this crossover period im sure will have many similar reservations to my own.

  33. Athletically they probably are, same as human boxers are at their peak at 27 and other athletes. Hunting dogs get smarter as they age, up to a point, to compensate, same as us. I prefer to hunt with an experienced dog that might not be as fast but are a pleasure to work with. Another reason I'm not into competitive dog sports where good dogs are kicked to the curb for financial reasons or their owners ego once past their prime.

  42. Yes you have, that's the thing. You give apps permission to talk to each other and only 1 app need permission for your mic. So for example you gave WhatsApp mic permission so you can ring people with it, fb then has permission to talk to those apps
