  6. The youngest dog which I got off Gnipper is nicknamed bellend, because she is a complete roller pigeon eating, wall destroying, shadow chasing bellend. But fck is she good at catching rats in houses. I know it doesn't sound much but as a pest controller that one little small rat can be a wage and a reputation. Got a call from an agent about a rat in a house. Others had tried and failed with traps and the tenant was refusing to enter the property. The minute this dog enters a house she switches on, she knows and soon I know if it's there or if it's been and gone. She sets to and che

  9. And old pal of mine once told me “You never remember the lessons that don’t cost you anything”…….that is so true. In my humble opinion lads like me cracking on like we have always done won’t make a blind bit of difference, we tried being vulgar, we tried being polite, we tried talking about it and being all sensible……the evidence is, none of it has worked. It hasn’t worked because it hasn’t effected enough people for things to stop. Theres not people in positions of power dangling a carrot to make them vote for it to stop. We can talk all the sense and logic (in our opinion

  10. Well I lasted another week jacked it in last Friday, am not very computer literate which is a must in today’s world, so yesterday I got up and spent several hours on the internet learning, I joined a local Facebook group in the village I,m moored and put my services up on there in 24hrs I have had 3 jobs come in which will keep me busy for at least the next month or so and have also been offered a full time job with a wood burner installation company knocking out fireplace openings and making them ready for the stove at £20 an hour, as I,ve said before if your willing to graft you will never b

  13. The genuine article is still around,...I saw one only recently...? However,..back in the 80s, there was a few nice American Pits locally,..they were mostly chocolate in colour, and said to be from the Mayfield lines? I never paid much attention to these animals,..not because they weren't to my taste, ..they most certainly were. Indeed, as a type of canine,..I found them amazingly beautiful and obviously functional.? Facts were, I did not find their owners palatable....they were not to my taste, and I was probably not to theirs.? Anyway, these types have always remained i

  16. I’m not a lurcher man, never will be, got one and that’ll do me, ive not got a type, aslong as it does that task at hand. I know plenty boys with all different types to suit what they do mate, but they don’t slate other men’s crosses, they use what’s useful for the job they do. I’ve never heard one of them coming out with the shite you do and never expect them to because they are honest dog men. ??

  21. All I’m interested in with a lurcher is foxes, a day at hounds with a gun there’s nothing more boring, hence why I don’t have a pure saluki, because they ain’t up to the job. a bull greyhound type suits me fine with whatever else thrown in the mix I don’t care as long as short works made of a fox. Horses for courses mate.

  22. That was the problem in the boat yard loved the work and the environment but the relationship amongst the staff is totally toxic no trust or loyalty between any of them out of 6 staff 1 is a bully 1 a manic depressive and one a raving narcissist, everyone trying to drop others in the shit while doing the least they can, it all looked lovely and idealistic until you scratched the surface, so I had to get on before I ended up like them ??

  28. Well seeing as tho a full propper breed bull dog would spend 1,2 even 3 hours in a box they have plenty in the tank , same as when you put a sand slug to a grey the sand slug gives the grey the staying power no different than a bull , the fact you think bull greys are just muscle bound dogs says you not seen many good ones seen plenty bull grey do 20 rabbit plus a night so how they no good for edible

  33. Not many genuine bull greyhounds of any type being bred now most of what you see advertised is scatter bred shite with bits of everything in there. The real stuff is usually well grafted and pups spoken for before they are born. Never seen a proper first x for a while , all big mastiff looking things people are using for how they look other than what they can do. A 5/8 3/8 is a great cross if they take the right shape, seen a few over the years

  34. As a youth I used to be mad keen for ferreting with old lurcher jess taught me alot about dogs marking holes and stuff then I got a russell and she was just a rabbiting dog but once i had my 1st lamping trip it was like being in another world I got the bug and that's all i ever wanted to do but if I'm honest all aspects of lurcher work I enjoy bushing I've had great times with especially when you hit a good spot ?

  36. I was watching the news the other morning and there was a BAME girl on there telling us that employers are going to be receiving guidance on how they advertise their vacancies so as to not put off ethnic/ black / BAME whatever you want to call them from applying. The gist of it was that if your advert is to grammatically correct and well written it makes them feel less likely to feel that they should apply. For example she quoted one advertisement for a role which read “ must have world class communication skills “ . She suggested that to make it more appealing to a more diverse set of applica

  37. Sometimes I think I’m a bit over dogged ? but the Mrs is a star for running them, and I will never put myself in the position of having nothing to run again. It’s so easy to start the season with a full team and quickly have dogs in sick bay or worse.

  38. I think a lots changed for me I used to be mad for ferreting I’d mooch for miles as much as I could an lamp as much as I could but ive noticed the games changing around me an there’s more to life than just giving all my time to keeping a few different dogs for various things an hunting. I mainly lamp now 2-3 nights a week through out the season sometimes more I’ll ferret a bit but not much an mooch a bit but if I’m lamping that night there’s not much point in using energy up when if can be saved for the lamp I’ve only 2 bitches now one is retired damaged goods an old bones and the other is act

Don’t be fooled into thinking this is anything new lads have been having doors put through purely on the basis of vans parked by fields for a while now . we were never at the races . it’s easier to stick a conviction against a lad with a few gbh lifts , a rav 4 and something out of buddy in the back than it is to go after the Beaufort hunt. it was always so. It was always going to happen but even so when the Cla , the countryside alliance , the rspca , defra and the kennel club are all banding with the rural crimes unit and gallelio it’s a kick in the stones.
