Good old days. I remember a pub we used to go to over 50 years ago, on a Saturday, about 15 mile away, a long way back then. It was called The Lemington Hotel, but known far and wide as "The Darkies Bar" or "The Bangla dash" , ( Pakistan Shandy), because one of the tenants was a Pakistani. Coincidently, I live about a mile from it now, but it's been converted into "luxury apartments". Back then it had stables, and trotting matches were run from there along Scotswood Road. A mate of mine had the bar then, and I remembering him matching his big, black stallion against a p***y8 points

We used to get in the bird pubs. As kids the animal market was eye opening you could get most things animal wise but look back at the times from serious bird dealers to dog thieving cnts. It was all on show6 points

It's no big deal, mate. My wife, my late daughter and myself walked up to the local pub for a meal. I knew exactly what the cost would be, me being an obsessive compulsive. The barman over charged me, so I asked to see the bill, he refused, and called me a c**t so I got a bit over excited and tried to get over the bar to explain my point of view. He ran away, the manageress came, told me to leave, the lads in the bar agreed with me, but I was still barred. All for £1:50, but it's the principle that counts !! ? !! Cheers.4 points

Walked my Sunday dinner off around the shoot, was asked to shoot the rabbits around the farm so took the .17 for my mate to use, after half a dozen we headed over the far side for a call. No foxes so we headed back towards the farm, as we got into the bottom field there was a very nice roe buck no more than 40 yards from us, so I’ll maybe have a go at him in the coming weeks, I did take a 150 yard rabbit with the.223, the fox can spend a bit of time picking them bits up ( what a mess ) not the most eventful of evenings but still a nice walk out ?3 points

The pub right opposite the Army & Navy where Combat 18 and the National Front used to stand outside every Sunday was called the bird cage you used to walk in and the whole wall was just birds in tiny little cages, when I was a nipper I used to go out with my granddad and trap birds over the Mud Chute on the Isle of Dogs and we used to sell them in there at the weekend. I remember the final years of Club Row you used to get all the antis protesting about the live animal sales people were fighting in the gutter it used to really liven up a Sunday morning. The amount of shit I’ve bo3 points

Some members Nat remember the fantastic threads by Dan Edwards, up hill doc and stunt man. Some great action and some great dogs. That yellow stitch dog was some animal. Sadly they got sick of the muppets eventually and left. I was thinking today, does anyone remember Ned Makin and the great thread he had rolling about his days and night pig hunting. Both those guys had some brilliant single handed dogs and the threads were great. Now we have where can I get a Beddy whippet and some shit about beans ?3 points

i do a similar thing but use a piece of grass turf turned grass side down cut to suit the nest box. Love the silkies and goldtops for broodies. Best of luck charts with the hatching.2 points

Of all the crosses iv seen work on foxes it's the collie bull greyhound for me, not saying that because I keep them now but a good one does the job well with no messing.2 points

Anything will do on a squirrel if you put it in the right place. Even though squirrels are tuff, a well placed .22 is a very one sided contest with a squirrel! Cheapest ammo you can find that works well/accurately in your rifle.2 points

This is what I use , I put soil in the bottom ( helps stability and gives moisture which in turn helps with humidity) I then put shavings on top, I have very good hatch rates using this method, one thing... two days before the eggs are going to hatch throw the Broody off the have a crap, when she goes back on turn the drum around to face a wall that way she won’t try and take any early chicks to feed leaving the others that are due to hatch.2 points

Totally agree , shot foxes should be hidden out of sight as you say just ammo to portray on social media, what people dont see doesnt bother them.2 points

Thought about moving over there more than a few times, first for the terrier work then for the fishing. I've got no excuse but cowardice, I should of done it years ago, never say never, see what life brings. On the plus side I love the putanges and the glamorous assistant is learning the trade too.2 points

My apologies Dervburner. I read your noted rifle only after I posted the thing up. Bit worrying as I never miss details like this.... usually. I've already started reaching the top of my stairs now and wondering, what the bloody hell did I come up for???? Best regards Dervburner. Simon2 points

I do see it that way but you got activists getting paid to scheme plan unrest, minority groups bristling with pride at causing mayhem I might seem a bit draconian but they need a beating For unacceptable behaviour I and many wouldn’t want a protest on my doorstep I don’t believe in giving them a platform , a protest isn’t never going to be the same as few yrs back it’s been turned into a left right drama , after watching the unrest in USA knowing full well that game is going to be played out in every right leaning country in Europe , I’ve had enough of spotty face green haired uni activist2 points
