  2. Its funny because this topic comes up time to time and its always the same , it aint what it use to be ,things are going down hill blah blah blah ,the exact same things were being said 15 years ago lol . I really don't bother arguing with people on line anymore its just a waste of energy . Still plenty of decent content on here and my advice is dont let a few idiots put you off because there's always going to be few in a bigger place like this, you can go to smaller groups but in my experience things tend to get stale quite quickly.

  4. Combination of both I think. I love running the dogs, but how many things can you write about lamping rabbits? And no way would anyone want to risk writing about anything else.. Loads of knowledgeable people still on here, but sadly a few good ones gone.. there's a few who I'd pick the phone up to if I needed advice or a bit of help with dogs, ferrets, fishing etc, as I consider them mates now...to be fair this sites always been pretty good to me, met and yapped to a lot of good lads over the time.

  10. Now it was time for Charlie. After calling for around 45 mins using mating calls , chicken distress and hare nothing showed. Was about to pack in and decided on one last call , cottontail distress . Well a fox came straight in from behind us on a mission , I shouted to stop it and a dog fox was grassed. So after not being out for 3 weeks had a great day today ?

  16. I've bought an over/under! Yes that's correct and you heard it correctly, a super imposed shotgun. 12g and get this, it's a Beretta! No, not one of them overpriced cnc machined overpriced tart of a suppository gun! The tri centennial celebratory muzzleloader ? It got to much for me and the zabala I bought last February. All summer on crows and pigeon just highlighted poor hit ratios everytime out with it! I can not connect consistently with it but that old Tula hammergun from Russia with extra full chokes I connect with everything with a high percentage hit ratio

  18. Well first time out after recovering from Covid and what a fantastic day. I arranged to meet my mate to do some deer management and predator control on his shoot. Arrived at 2pm to a lovely bright frosty day and was very confident of grassing a roe. I was glassing as usual and my mate shooting. Spotted a roe next to a feeder around 150 yds away , so mate up on quads , waited for deer to turn broadside and it dropped on the spot.

  19. Spend about an hour a day watching the feeders, longer (with the plinker) if the terrier tells me she's seen a rat or a squirrel when she's sat on the arm of the settee watching through the patio door. Only get the odd greenfinch and goldfinch though. Get a few marsh tits and willow tits but can't tell the difference until I see them both on then get the book out to remind me which is which. Lol Filling the feeders today I slipped on an icy bit and half a tub of live meal worms went up in the air, I've got the fattest robins in the county now.? Cheers, D.

  21. Most days I can see a dozen or so goldies on the feeders in my front garden as well as greenies, linnets and chaffies.Got four feeders that are permanently full of sunflower hearts and niger as well as a couple more with mixed seed and fat balls.Something I hardly see these days is bullies which used to be common around me untill the grubbed out a lot of the orchards and replaced them with poly tunnels full of strawberries and raspberries.

  22. I don't give a shit lol The squirrels cause no bother really they come for a feed and there gone and they have caused no damage,. Rats on the other hand have wrecked numerous feeders and are not just content with a feed they take the lot , well not on my watch they don't lol Note shot placement, .22 is clearly the superior calibre ? Just saying like ?

Now now francie dont be turning into the irish version of max, defo no shame in getting beat and takes balls to get into the ring, but people will have their favourites and own opinions, normally its the loud mouthed fighters and the shit talkers that cop the flack after not backing up what they said theyd do, its all part of the fight game and sells seats

  31. Always remember my Mrs going up to a shop assistant in B&M and saying, excuse me have you got fatballs , poor bloke went bright red and melted on the spot , i was in the background p*ssing myself laughing ?? Did have goldies the other week on the suet blocks but found they seem to prefer them hanging in the shrubs rather than of the bird table , probably feel safer only had afew blue tits since

  32. i really think, that after 30 odd years fooking about with lurchers, your better of getting a lurcher x lurcher type dog , because if from proven dogs, you should have a dog that do rabbits day/night, and take other quarry if need be pre ban. ive always said a 1/4 collie plenty in any lurcher , having had few collie xs over the years , my 1x collie x grey now old bryn, been great rabbit dog, but thats all really not a alrounder , my 1x gsd x grey Buck better dog , more of a alrounder than bryn ever was . So regards the post colliexs , if i was you mate, just get a lurcher x lurcher with drop
