  1. This fellas gotta have had retrieved close to the hundred mark I’d say. Hard as nails no reverse gear and can put his hand to other stuff just as well. Hopefully get a pup out of him in another couple of seasons when I’m in need of a new dog.

  3. Most Americans start their terriers in an artificial scenario which I have never agreed with regardless of age.Pet rats, caged coons ,wooden boxes with a possum. As my father used to say "It's like putting lipstick on a pig." Pointless I started a pup yesterday.Roughly 15 months old.He had seen nothing.I took him to a beaver set that I knew would provide an easy quick bolt. The little dog entered.Beaver immediately bolted and the pup came home feeling like king of the world. Most Americans say that I do it wrong.I say most Americans do it wrong.

  8. I remember back in 1982 and I was a junior soldier on a day trip to the imperial war museum . I was in a group with some lads from Ireland, they had never seen a black man in their lives . As we drove through London and they witnessed plenty of blacks it was like being on a coach trip in a safari park , they were fascinated, “ Bejeeezus , just look at the f****n state of em , der loik monkeys “ !!!! ???? Oh how those days of innocence have long gone .

  13. I don't encourage any of my terriers to go for rats after having to move tons of bales for a terrier digging for rat , as far as the video I wouldn't at that age even a nip that young and the dog could go backwards for ever...I'm usually stock breaking at that age and know how a little fear at that age stops them worrying stock for life

  14. He’s 28 1/2 29 mate. Covers the ground really well to be honest and does what needs to be done. Been a great dog for me. I have put an awful lot of hours into this dog though and if I hadn’t he wouldn’t have put half the stuff away. For 3 seasons it was just me and him 4,5 times a week we were out and even on the days we wasn’t out out we’d still go for an hours and a half mooch. So I do believe in you get out of it what you put in.

  15. As a proper reply I don’t see rural racism, what I see is rural realism from people not yet polluted by the insanity. They are not racist, they just know what it means when these people start turning up and they say so.

  19. Does killing rats even make any difference as to how easily a terrier will or wont enter to real quarry?I dont think so.Ive seen terriers that have killed loads of rats and ragged loads of carcasses and been tied up on digs that haven't made anything. On the other hand Ive seen youngsters that have just been socialised properly and been out and about enter in the first occupied earth they've come across with no encouragement at all.Yeah ratting is a bit of fun and better than being stuck in a kennel but I dont think it makes any difference when entering to the proper job.

  20. I went out squirrelling too ? again didn't expect much but was pleasantly surprised. Snow all gone and a decent day with a few hail showers. Finished with 12 only missing 1 so not too shabby. One squirrel ran into a hole in the tree but was peeping out thinking I couldn't see it ,it soon got no 6 shot in the face ?

  21. Went squirreling today and ended up with a fox barking in thick cover not 50yds away! Never did see it but I hung around for hours watching a snow covered field with the occasional squeal. Just owls and hares as dark fell.

  23. The one thing that I have learned out of watching all these debates unfold is that there is a complete lack of trust or faith in those we elect to govern us......it’s been 25 years in the making so I have to ask myself, why are we still electing these people ? This wouldn’t have even been a conversation 50 years ago. Nothing got better the last 25 years in fact apart from our illusion of wealth it all got much, much worse and now we are at the point where we have a very reasonable suspicion that they are actively trying to do us direct harm........how the f**k have we let it come to

  29. Everytime I come home with my 17 I use a little pull through and cotton patch for the barrel in these cold and damp conditions and everytime I do it the patch is damp! The number of barrels I have seen little spots of rust damage in them has made me a little paranoid. It's not so bad for stainless barrels but non stainless it's important and I recommend a quick pull through or rod and mop soon after your return home. I dont do the 22 due to it using lubricated bullets which also coats the bore. Never seen a rusted 22 barrel post corrosive priming! Just sayin.

  31. The amount of ratting a lad does will determine when they are entered .Mine tag along at about 6 months but that’s not entering is it .Entering to me is taking the youngster out on its own to see if it’s ready to tackle something alone and in it’s own environment .Ragging a corpse is not entering ,killing anything with the pack is not entering ,entered implies that terrier is ready to join the fray as a ratter in its own right and the only way that’s proven is to take the youngster on its own at the appropriate age to let it work unaided .Same with digging .I like a dog to be independent wher

Only issue I know of with them is 5 th gear sometimes goes, just luck of the draw, noticed a few up in the yrs with no miles on them with that issue.. had mine rebuilt after it popped 30 miles from Ramsgate, from south wales ?rebuilt for £300,engines are the d4d 2 litre diesel, bombproof, the Pakistani taxi drivers favourite ?... There's loads of em around so parts are pennies don. I payed £1250 3 yrs ago for a xt4 full leather, all the shit?on a 53 plate, purely for a dog fishing bus with 98,000,its done 156,000 now and still purring away, good on juice too, and nobody looks at you, triple b

  35. I can't see the pics but in the 19th century brass reels or winches as they were called were in vogue and many were made in Birmingham or London. There were some large manufacturers like Rueben Heaton and loads of small one man bands or family businesses knocking what were virtually the same designs with a few of their own tweaks or cosmetic differences. Some of these makers would brand the reel with the name of the retailer so you'd get top London retailers like Ogden Smith and J Bernard & Sons branded reels that had been made by the same maker. Sadly, not many are worth much. It all
