  1. I was told I'm working too much this weekend, so today I wrapped at midday and me and the wife headed for Branscombe...she was right..it was perfect... a bit of grub in the beach cafe then I had a few hours on the kayak whilst she read on the beach... not the worst place to spend an afternoon...and tea is sorted for tomorrow..

  2. Was supposed to be going up home to North Wales this week but the van packed up. We decided to have a walk up on Dartmoor early doors on Sunday. It’s a great place to walk out and we barely seen anyone. The 2 dogs worked well and the young bitch is coming on great.

  6. I don't think bagging a large bag olf Rabbits this time of the year is a good idea , for one they go off very quickly or become Fly blown , there is no market for them + you are killing Milky and pregnant Does + youngsters and to top it all it can be hard work . In my time i have had some very good bags [for the Midlands ] but the real memories are the days when i had two with one shot , 13 out of a stop end , 3 balled up together in a long net , i have had lot of little things like that as will any one else who has put 70 odd years into the game and i would not swap any of them for 2

  8. Fair enough a honest reply fd I know for a fact a ocelot was shot by a keeper at night it was a pet I can name the keeper and location I also know a farmer who said he has seen a big cat twice I have no doubt to disbelieve him he's a honest lad with nothing to gain the fact many were dumped I don't find it hard to believe there could be truth in it I am opened minded enough to think there could be but I have never seen one what I wouldn't do is constantly try to belittle someone who says they have seen one and spends hours and his own money trying to prove it open forum or not

  10. Had a bit of fun today, three of us, two .17 hmr’s, one .22rf, one hw100 .177 and one fx impact .22 fac. Started at 50 yards and moved back to 100 yards. At 50, the hw100 couldn’t really be beaten by any of the others for accuracy, we had some paper targets and golf balls, tin cans, tiny apples etc, nothing too challenging. After we moved back to 100 yards the hw100 went back in my pals car as this was a bit far for it. Anyway, once I was on the right mill dot, the impact was hitting golf balls every shot, and one of my pals said, I’m going to shoot the orange ? golf ball that’s on a string

  11. I wont be popular but I don't agree at all. People co existed, competed and hunted these these species for millenia before technology and increasing population made them extinct. Is it so bad that they are coming back? The numbers you are taking about are tiny, 60 wolves in the whole French pyrenees? Shepherds were sucessfully shepherding sheep there for 1000's of years alongside much higher populations. Livestock management was probably different, livestock guardian dogs were probably a huge part of that. If you look at their use in Namibia guardian dogs reduced cheetah predat

  12. What worries me about any rewilding in this country is that they will just use it to further distance us from nature, they won't allow any hunting by Humans for a start which automatically guarantees it won't be a truly wild environment and they will restrict our access in the areas i.e only go to designated viewing spots etc. It'll be £10 for some national trust carpark and I just hate all that shit, I'm dead against any rewilding in the principle that anyone allowed to be involved will be total fuckwits

  14. That was a great clip . I watched it to see if my I could see my grandad. He used to have a fish and chip van on the hop fields of Kent . Made a fortune he used to say . Similar thing when I was a lad was black currant picking. A few coaches used to come and pick Up the pickers from our village and take us to Newent ( Gloucestershire) . They used to go to the Ribena factory. You were paid by the weight of your bucket . The trick everyone did was to piss in your bucket just before weighing...... every little helps . Never did like ribena .?

  15. I personally don't think that photo does anyone any credit or favours. I'm sure the dog's in fine fettle but the first thing that strikes anyone, especially the uninitiated, is how uncomfortable the dog looks. It's just conveying the wrong message. That said, I'm sure that dog is the happiest thing, living the life it does, probably won't sit still for a natural photo so needs tying down for one. It's probably just a cultural thing and I hope Terriero doesn't take it to heart and continues to post more, particularly of his hunting in the field.

  23. Using the pulsar xm30 myself, game changer really where rabbits are lamp shy. Means you don't have to scan lamp for eyes, you can see exactly what else in on the land (and who else). Takes the dogs a few goes to understand how it works as they're left in the dark but my pup watches my hands to see if I'm lifting the thermal or the lamp so he mentally preps himself for a run when he sees the lamp come up. Draws far less attention, handy if poaching but even on permission the less neighbouring houses see the better. I've not had to charge my lamp for about 12 outings now as you hardly need

  26. Spot on. Regarding predation on sheep you need to break the cycle and the bears /wolves will then find other food sources. The older shepherds obviously lost some sheep but nothing unmanageable with use of dogs etc. Make the sheep hard to catch and the predators will turn to other prey and then nature will take over, to many wolves not enough ibex wolf population falls lots of ibex wolves increase and so on as had happened for 1000’s of years. We have pretty much everything as species we can learn to live with other species.

  29. All my family used to go and do this every year from way back.....I used to love the smell of the hop fields when I was a kid although the tradition had stopped with my brothers generation. We lived on a little small holding just outside Sandwhich in Kent and right in amongst the fields.....Sandwhich still had its old cattle market then.....it’s a car park and supermarket now Sadly now all lost.......I miss MY England Anyway, I hope some of you enjoy ?

  34. I went to a little hunt terrier show years ago in north of England and the small turn out of Jack Russells was of the best quality. All working dogs. The last class was for entered terriers and an immaculately dressed elderly lady entered the ring. She was dressed head to toe in tweed. Like a character from an Ealing comedy that would be played by Margret Rutherford. She had a black Scottish Terrier. A modern KC type. We stood and watched and made derogatory comments questioning the old lady's sanity or understanding of what an entered terrier was. Later on in the pub it was explained that the

  36. There is a way of cleaning white dogs with out needing to bath them. Just give them a good rub down with your hands. All the crap comes off them and onto the hands. Keep washing the hands. You end up with a sparkling white dog.

  37. that's what I dreamed of,(the old English white terrier ????buen eye as had), that's what I wanted to show, then I'll put better pictures, this week I'll go hunting with eeys and I'll put pictures, it's a very shy dog and he's not used to being tied up, but he's a very happy and free dog, but some will understand it and some won't, social media has. that, many dress tip of the same image gives different chases
