Never thought the day would ever come that id ever get back out doing whats in my blood and that's getting back out there with dog n ferrets, ive pacified myself dragging my old ferret hutch out the shed , and boy did it bring back memmories , good old days, anyways still in good condition ive tarted it up, plenty of room for them to play, but I lacked a dog, and the prices way out of my reach, but then I got a pm from Daniel cain , showing me the dam n sire of his pending litter, nice sound dogs the pair of em, a nice little mooching partner and pal to me, I cant thank him enough, and cant w

  3. So I’m at work with my mate and his brother has just rang to ask if I wanted a bit of fox shooting, well obviously I said yes, it turns out it’s 200 acres of farm land 10 minutes from my house and I can shoot anything I want on there, only one rule is I can only go on my own, suits me, I told him I don’t know the difference between sh*t and guts and he said he won’t hold it against me as long as what ever is on the floor is dead, today has been a good day so far ?

  4. As I've said several times in the past Collie John; although I have kelpies and prefer them to collies that is purely a personal opinion and I'm a big fan of all pastoral type dogs. I know a lot of kelpie fans who are anti collie but I think they've just been unfortunate in knowing the wrong kind of collies. I suppose it's similar to why some don't like collie lurchers i.e. they've met the wrong type. In the U.K. I still think that a collie is probably the best for allround farm work...it's simply that I get on better with the kelpie temperament. Even though I'm a big fan of them I still regul

  7. One of my farms has just cut the barley so decided to have a look out on the stubbles. 1st stand I set up in a cut grass field which is on the edge of a wood and gorse banking and usually holds a litter each year. After calling for 25 minutes the 1st fox appeared which I shot at 100yds ? No more than 10 minutes later its sibling appeared which I shot but was a runner , I went to look for it and as I was scanning I spotted a 3rd so quickly ran back to my rifle and shot that one . I then searched for the second and found it some 70 yds away , shot a little far back but it was dead. So with 3 in

  8. If I owned a dog that just did rabbits, I would spend all my time travelling and searching for them... I only ask that a dog tries, has a go... I got no problem jumping in and giving the old coup de grace help them out... I think sometimes folks expect too much too soon, sometimes their first few experiences can be too much, very rarely are things textbook so to speak.. Owned and given away dogs that didn't like the tasks I put in front of em..... Only to come good later on for someone else.... Also had dogs and been told they don't like this or that... And they have become very good, excelled

  15. Never feed just before running a dog. Can cause bloat and at the least the dog won't run well if it's full of food: especially dangerous if you feed dry food which expands in the stomach and draws vital fluids from the rest of the body in order to digest it. If you must feed before running, you need to feed at least 3 hours before, but I have never fed before running a dog. Canines are designed to work on an empty stomach, and even if the food has left the stomach it is still being absorbed in the intestines and would make the dog very uncomfortable.

  17. Out again today managed the one. beaten by another today it wasn't a matter of pushing the fox out as we had just missed one from the briar rose when we got to the next next patch the runners were doing their impression of the Indians circling the covered wagons . Patch the terrier took matters into his own hands and went in and grabbed the fox and boxed on for quite some time while we broke into the clump of rose, my son grabbed the foxes tail and pulled fox and dog clear and swung fox out into the open where my runners finished the job out.

  19. Had a good session on pigeon today. Shot lousy, ok I have full and full choking but I still shot bad. 15 feral and 26 woodies. I'll spare you the cartridge ratio. It's a little negative and somewhat embarrassing ??. The heat was near impossible and I forgot something to drink. Fortunately the hedge cast some shade on my hide. 28g 7&1/2s.

  24. If I was you I’d just get out and about by yourself and see what happens, unfortunately most decent dog lads keep quite private these days so they’re unlikely to invite a stranger off the internet to go out with them. You’ll find with these forums and Facebook that 90% of the people you go out with you’ll wish you’d just went on your own anyway. That being said you might get lucky and meet some decent people, you can only try. One thing to remember meeting people in this game. Believe none of what you hear and only half of what you see.

  25. Good point at the start of the post, there’s all kinds of game to be found in huge numbers in this country. You just need to be keen enough to jump in your car and go get it. No use complaining about low numbers when there’s rabbits out there to be had & you just can’t be bothered to travel for them. Usually find as well by the time someone’s complained for hours & spent ages walking empty local fields they could’ve driven a few hours and had some good sport.

  30. Sod it! I decided to be brave and do it again straight away. Noggin's on the left and Ned's on the right. This was taken on Dartmoor a couple of weeks ago. We went up Cawsand Beacon for the view but this was all we could see so we went back down to the ford where I scattered Rusty and Scout's ashes. Actually, Scout's are in a hole in the bury next to the ford as she spent so much of her time trying to get in there I thought she's like to spend all eternity in it.

  39. A bit of information on the Saudi Public Investment Fund, that were going to put up 80% of the money to buy Newcastle United. The Saudis were awash with oil money, and were looking to the future when oil ran out or became irrelevant due to new technology. They looked to Norway, who had ploughed years of oil revenue into their own PI F, for when their oil ran out.so hired some of the worlds best investment bankers to set up an Investment fund . The bought up billions of dollars of shares in companies we have all heard of, but probably won't know that the Saudis have huge shares

  40. So hold it, you are saying that because these people bring their shit culture with them they shouldn’t be allowed to pump millions into Newcastle United....... But........ In every other thread you are saying as long as we think they are nice chaps they should be allowed in and that they have been here anyway for thousands of years and we all have a bit in our blood So, we should allow in a load of Pakistanis to rape our kids because their grandad got called up in the war to change oil filters in spitfires on make tea in Burma but we should not allow 5 billionaires who are goin
