  5. Sod it! I decided to be brave and do it again straight away. Noggin's on the left and Ned's on the right. This was taken on Dartmoor a couple of weeks ago. We went up Cawsand Beacon for the view but this was all we could see so we went back down to the ford where I scattered Rusty and Scout's ashes. Actually, Scout's are in a hole in the bury next to the ford as she spent so much of her time trying to get in there I thought she's like to spend all eternity in it.

  6. Just an observation, not a rabbit man myself, but a lot of the men that hunt rabbits seem to try & take the maximum number possible every time out, then complain about the lack of rabbits. Makes no sense to me.

  7. He sounds frustrated by it - I reckon he's had enough of witnessing the special treatment being doled out and, just come on here to vent. He won't be the only one in this country who's sick of seeing it.

  9. These endangered almost extinct hedgehogs are eating me out of house and home, not sure how many I have in total as I feed them in several places and some run from one bowl to another but recon minimum 3 maybe 5 different ones at the moment and still have not seen any little ones , interestingly they seem to roam 3/4 gardens and none of my neighbours even no they are there,so are they as endangered as they say or do we just not spend enough time out side poking about anymore ?????

  10. Never feed just before running a dog. Can cause bloat and at the least the dog won't run well if it's full of food: especially dangerous if you feed dry food which expands in the stomach and draws vital fluids from the rest of the body in order to digest it. If you must feed before running, you need to feed at least 3 hours before, but I have never fed before running a dog. Canines are designed to work on an empty stomach, and even if the food has left the stomach it is still being absorbed in the intestines and would make the dog very uncomfortable.

  17. Had a good session on pigeon today. Shot lousy, ok I have full and full choking but I still shot bad. 15 feral and 26 woodies. I'll spare you the cartridge ratio. It's a little negative and somewhat embarrassing ??. The heat was near impossible and I forgot something to drink. Fortunately the hedge cast some shade on my hide. 28g 7&1/2s.

  20. Well I may not be able to tell sh*t from guts but I can certainly put a pheasant pen together on a shoe string budget ? the second pen is now finished, all new wire around the bottom, full new electric fence, new pop holes and a new drinker system with new 1000lt IBC all for under 200 quid and a bit of hard graft, the birds are coming a week tomorrow so the enjoyable part is almost here ?

  21. Got them at mine mate, I do actively encourage them though. A wild area for them the slow worms and the birds. Squirrels are not welcome though been thinning them down. Left over ferret food go's under the ferret hutch and the come every night. Nice little run under the ferns behind the ferret hutch. Another run parallel to my front steps. Don't know if you can make that out. Little droppings every were, some very small ones, been trying to catch sight of some young ones. Cheers Arry

  23. Badgers and cars as dytkos has said mate, I made a bit of noise last year about the arsewipe Brian May running a campaign to save badgers then started a campaign to save hedgehogs, the irony of trying to save the cause of the problem and the victim by the same man just shows how far removed from reality these guardians of our countryside really are

  25. Out again today managed the one. beaten by another today it wasn't a matter of pushing the fox out as we had just missed one from the briar rose when we got to the next next patch the runners were doing their impression of the Indians circling the covered wagons . Patch the terrier took matters into his own hands and went in and grabbed the fox and boxed on for quite some time while we broke into the clump of rose, my son grabbed the foxes tail and pulled fox and dog clear and swung fox out into the open where my runners finished the job out.

  28. A bit of information on the Saudi Public Investment Fund, that were going to put up 80% of the money to buy Newcastle United. The Saudis were awash with oil money, and were looking to the future when oil ran out or became irrelevant due to new technology. They looked to Norway, who had ploughed years of oil revenue into their own PI F, for when their oil ran out.so hired some of the worlds best investment bankers to set up an Investment fund . The bought up billions of dollars of shares in companies we have all heard of, but probably won't know that the Saudis have huge shares

  30. What i meant was they will slowly creep into our society by many different ways and religion is a hard to argue against thing,so lets say build a mosque and muzzies will come, some will move into the area and the rest is history or braford etc..That was the sort of point i was high lighting.,as for max's ramblings,he's on his own there ...

  31. So hold it, you are saying that because these people bring their shit culture with them they shouldn’t be allowed to pump millions into Newcastle United....... But........ In every other thread you are saying as long as we think they are nice chaps they should be allowed in and that they have been here anyway for thousands of years and we all have a bit in our blood So, we should allow in a load of Pakistanis to rape our kids because their grandad got called up in the war to change oil filters in spitfires on make tea in Burma but we should not allow 5 billionaires who are goin

  32. We have put all this effort into the pens and approximately 10 days after they go in and have settled in getting to know where food, water and safety is I’ll be opening the back of the pens up and setting them free into the woods, they never do well up here if you keep them in the pens to long and I’ve finally managed to get a couple of others to stop dogging them in because it just stresses them out, the pellets arrived on Friday ( some medicated) and I’ve got some water additive wormer just in case, so fingers crossed for a bit of sun on their backs

  33. They don't take over like that... they invade cracks, nooks and crannies but don't cover the whole thing. Their roots can split most rock types (eventually). I'd say a hardy rose type would be best there, add in some fast climbing species (potted so can be removed later on). Something that grips and pulls into the wall, as opposed to forcing it's way into and between.

  37. I think the reason you maybe see less of the type in your picture is because they’re not as versatile as some people would like. The racier ones could turn their hand to a few different jobs and that probably suits more people these days. Those types are obviously perfect for you but if a man likes the odd run at a hare or to take home some venison he’ll need more of a runner like the red and white dog.

  38. Old saying beauty is in the eye of the beholder, some people like dogs that look like collie marked greyhounds & to these people they are proper collie greyhounds. You like dogs that look like pure collies and to you, they are proper collie greyhounds. Some people might like a mix between the 2, nobodies right or wrong just preference. For me if they’re working dogs, the one that’s better at its job is the proper one.

  41. I don,t believe Greyhounds and Deerhounds owned an early hunting history as sight hounds, they were bred in an era when far more was expected of the hairy mongrels that became the more modern smooth coated and less useful hunting greyhound, the more affluent changed the history of the greyhound to suit their gambling habits. The Deerhound,as was, better represented itself as an accomplished hunter, its nose was as useful as its keen eye and modernish deerhoundy hybrids may have lost their nose yet regain the eye factor, ive to see yet a lurcher that is as keen sighted as the deerhoundy mongrels.Ill
