There has been some tidy Deerhounds imported the last few years from France and Germany that I know of and are from working stock and they themselves are worked. There is a lot of disparity when it comes to Deerhounds and some are big heavy useless looking things but others look like they could put a shift in. Here is a few pics of the pups out 1/2 cross litter I bred and are now 8month old.7 points

Me and Gnasher have been round the houses on this a couple of times. You can’t knock the bloke, he stayed on and used some benefits from working hard at his business to further a cause he believed in much better than the likes of blokes like me and him could do as young, angry youths and he is still doing it......I think I’m roughly fair in that assumption but I’m sure he will put me right if not ! ? Me, I ran away......but for me it was easy to justify. I got involved in local things, tried to portray ordinary white working blokes in a good way, volunteered for things that ben6 points

Here’s mine 8 years old now and pretty much retired with Arthritis and a supposedly dickie heart. Bedlington Bull Greyhound, decent enough in his day and still has a fantastic nose on him. The pictures are from a few years ago.5 points

Cashels Evening put up a great show at the last Waterloo Cup. Greyhound Data has her weight as 50lb, but the owner told me she ran in the Cup at 45lb, as she lost weight due to travelling from America to France and then to England..A very good little 'un ! Cheers.4 points

I,m in neither camp really, both sides have some valid points, but the van hallen belt has just always been a bit of a stumbling block for me, i was fishing for born to lay some facts on me ? I try to keep an open opinion on most things and try not to brand others as looneys or idiots because they offer different opinions unless I can categorically call it as bullshit and as I’m not going to be going to the moon anytime soon I,ll just file it under case open ?4 points

Gotta love this place ,you go at bit silly in your middle age and try to stretch yourself ,get out of your usual stuff ,bingo ! You pleasantly surprise yourself ,pat yourself on the back ,work out how to let people know what you did without it looking like your boasting ,feel really good about yourself ,and then ...wham .some twat calls you a liar ...buzz kill .4 points

I ran my first half in around 1hr 50. Second in 1hr 45. Then nailed a 1hr 38... anywhere under a couple of hours ain't too bad I'd say. Just to add, my first half was only the second time I'd ran any sort of distance, first being a 10k for cancer research... Yokel4 points

222 is sweet as they come and tends to be rather accurate. 223 is more common today and just has the edge on .222, but the difference is marginal. The .243 with a 55/58g V-Max is an absolute pussycat to shoot and accurate as they come with the right barrel twist. It has the edge all round on the other 2 and I consider it the best longer distance fox calibres/ammo. Everyone situation is different, it isn't just the calibre/ammo its about your circumstances/environment/distances/topography/etc/etc. A calibre/ammo is only the best choice for you, someone else may find a different4 points

But looking on the bright side how many scantily clad women does the hot weather bring out. Daisy dukes and crop tops seem all the rage round here and I for one am not complaining! p.s spent ten minutes behind a lycra clad woman cyclist yesterday, I could have overtaken her but what's the rush...3 points

Drink tonic water mate, (if you can )it contains quinine which helps prevent cramps. I suffered badly with them at one time. Magnesium tablets can help as well.3 points

It’s funny talking about common deaths one cause of death every year is a gimme wait for it rescuing a dog that has gone through the ice on a frozen lake or other body of water always the same result dog rescues it self human dies never ceases to amuse me at the stupidity of people.3 points

Twist has nothing to do with how a rifle shoots at range Phil. It has everything to do with stabilising a bullet and is derived via a calculation of bullet length, weight, diameter and operating velocity. Repeated shooting at a range requires generally speaking a heavier barrel but it's only a generalisation. The theory is that as a barrel heats, the thicker one will not move. It's a bit of an assumption really because any barrel no matter how thick if not stress relieved properly will move as heat increases.3 points

What i call it is what it is....its running from the fight but looking back shouting your mouth off at all the idiots that stood doing what you didnt have the stomach for......a bit like the dogs we all admire so much.....some get stuck in and others do the " self preservation bark ". This whole " family first " thing wears a bit thin after a while.3 points

Nothing to add but I ran a Pure Grey many years ago that was as good as anything I've had since except stamina wise, did get a few injuries due to pace but it killed everything from small rabbit to deer and had a hatred of teeth. I still reckon it was down to the fact I got him in my early teens and did everything with him. Never owned a lead with that dog after the first two weeks with him and used to sleep with my cat. Cracking thread this, thanks for everyone's input.3 points
