  7. Abc or Ace Boon Coon or Boonie coon,or Ace boonie or even Acie boonie coonie had these terriers that had no peds and he didn't work them but wanted to bash up some fella's who live hundreds and hundreds of miles away because they had some terriers of the same colour,or was it they did have peds and did work everything from grizzly bear to rattle snakes and they all got on together?.Anyway this Abc has a alter ego called Jolene who loves a bit of beaver and other wet fur,now don't get fresh as Jolene is married to a otter trapper and he knows his stuff when it comes to drowning terriers and mak

  8. It's weird how quickly hunters become naturalists. Killing animals is just a side issue. It just gives you an excuse/ reason to be in amongst nature. Many a time I've raised a gun and never delivered a shot....just didn't seem right at the time. As an example I once folowed a fox for about half a mile in a screaming gale. Eventually I was within 20 yards of him and he turned round to face me. He seemed to say "come on then get it over with". I aimed and then put the gun down and said " f**k off, it's your lucky day". The older I get, I am becoming more of a naturalist and less of a hunter .

  9. A couple of digging lads that go to the meeting have been out with Cain this season, the FMWTC meetings where often a place that some found advantageous in sourcing stock, days in the field, like minded souls etc. When you talk face to face it gives you a better understanding of a person, would they be suitable or suited to your individual hunting lifestyle and vice versa.A couple of pints an hours chat is a better way to gauge a fella, that works both ways, than useless drivel on a computer.Ill just have to bore the shite out of somebody else.

  11. Air rifles with enough power for deer hunting and military use were about in the late 1700s and some were repeaters. It has been disputed , but Napoleon is supposed to have considered them so fiendish that he ordered the execution of any enemy soldier caught carrying one. Lewis and Clarke used one on their journey across America. These things were said to produce 400-500 ft lbs and must have been a right bxgger to pump-up. But in those days people had servants for that sort of thing.?

  16. It's a shame that these human beings get caught up in no man's land. They were all happy and living their lives in their own country until the Assad family started a war for their own benifit and the Russians wanted a naval port and the Americans and us got involved in Iraq, Afganistan and other places. No one profited except the arms dealers. How would any of us cope with trying to live with kids and family when being bombed or murdered from the sky. Everything you have is destroyed. Some of those who have been caught in Greece have had their money taken, their paperwork, passports everyth

  19. Bit of an update here on the fishing. Weather getting colder and been fishing mostly at the harbour, so not anymore trout, however today we are going to start targeting the rivers again to get a few trout in. It's harder fishing now with the wind coming in, when it's still the mullet are straight on I, when it's Choppy they go to deeper water so we went to a river called the murrel yesterday. A huge expanse of water straight from the sea mouth. We were after trout but funnily enough caught 2 mullet. We kept these 2 for the table, and cooked them up with a few beers and a film later

  27. Been cooped up for a couple of days now, so at 8.00 pm took myself for a walk to my local tescos. Mainly just to get out, and to stock up on a few spices etc. Make a nice curry for tomorrow's match. It's about a mile and a half from me as the crow flies, so I took a more rural route. Get to a spot where I've seen a few foxes over the years, still a pretty built up area, even though there are some 'wild' places en route. About 40ish yards in front of me, could make out a darkish shape just coming out of some cover just off the banking of the A470, so I stopped in my tracks and stood still. Loo

  28. About two weeks ago l promised to have a wander around a nursery that raises native trees in search of a rabbit that had breached security and been annoying the client by pooing ,digging and nibbling wher such activities were not welcome. It was a paid job but the recent weather had somewhat dampened my enthusiasm and it kept getting put into the "maybe tomorrow" catagory. Today ,empowered by a sunny start and the threat of little more than a few showers l set off in search of The Rabbit. Well the rabbit turned out to be two rabbits. There are few burrows on the place and mos

Iv'e had some right old looks from keepers etc in the past when iv'e said i wish that fox could come back to life after the terrier has had a rag and iv'e wished that to every fox i have ever taken with a dog of any sort as it goes...
