To be fair I'd say 90% of whats been written about terriers and lurchers over the years has been a load of bo**ocks or at least the truth has been stretched a fair bit.I haven't bought a book on terriers in years after meeting and having days out with a few authers and contributors to well known magazines and realising most of them are full of s**t.

Local good farmer mate of mine has losed some lambs already .so after a good day or 2 of serious down pours me and my youngest boy ventured out today.we tried a good few earths and got a strong mark out of one .brian entered fox was out in about 3 minutes but made it to a another spot .brian in again and he bolted .was cleanly shot .one happy farmer ,and on the plus side it was him that shot it . Nobby I've just ordered one for the old mk 1 box. you need to read the back of the speaker should have something like 8 Ohm which will look like 8 and a upside down horse shoe 1W which mean 1 watt and the diameter which is 57 mm or 2.25' in the old MK1. I much prefer hounds and hound types to anything else, but sadly the roads, boundary’s and people make that a bit of a tough one. Currently messing about with a spaniel, and a terrier. But having had a good few folk here on an invite (we have some good bushing days with a gang of us), I would say that spaniel x terrier and terriers that dont drop to ground, or at least are fox only, are the right thing for doing the kind of cover we have. I want it out the cover, if it’s not stopped, I don’t want the little dogs going across a 100 acre field and on and on if that makes sense.

Had a few tunnelers in the past but put the trap on a solid base (slab or wood etc) with a stop end and have the fenn before the bait. Only speak for myself but I don't like baiting tunnels, nice dark run through in spots that look likely is what seems to work best for me.

So one terrier had such a good nose on top you could loose it in a 1000 acre (yes one thousand) forestry & it would find the fox, not only that, it would only be 50 yards behind the fox when he broke cover & was shot?? Secondly a dog on a dig managed not only to bottle up a dozen animals, but because they'd broke through behind the dog he proceeded to pull all of the twelve one by one. that aside it's the usual fell terrier ramblings about entering dogs into "bad spots"

spot on mate, it means feck all, my big dog Buck , dont like fighting other dogs, dogs try to kick off on him, but he moves away, he scared woody my 10 lb jack x chihuahua , he keeps well away when that little shit goes in the yard lol. Yet Buck Would kill a fox, cat, lock on to a 10st deer solo no prob , if he ever bumped in to any pre ban. Dogs are funny animals, more so lurchers , as most lurchers in my mind are bit more sensitive , than other types of dogs .

One of mine got a first in a show best 23ins smooth lurcher when shaved . 3 months later won best rough coated bitch.

Had a mooch out this avo. Heard a bit of a commotion....... local beagle pack had lost ten couple hounds. No one to be seen and they were hunting like stink so I went with them for a good while and had a bit of hunting before finally getting hold of the huntsman.
