I can keep this secret no longer. I was called to act as witness, referee and banker to the showdown between Katchum and wild Bill. The purse was three quid, neither of the two c**ts had any money so I had to lend them £1.50 each which I kept safely in my pocket. I asked both men if they were ready to fight. For some reason I suddenly started to talk in an Irish accent, maybe my mind had told me to get into character. "Now then me boyos, Oi'll tell you what Oi'll do wid yous. I want a good clean fight. No boitin, gouging, f****n head butting or any shoite like that. I will ask you to22 points

I was walking closely along the edge ,when i saw sonic freeze, that distinctive stare in to nothingness but you know its not just nothingness, its nothingness with somethingness thrown in ....he froze and stared and i knew he knew.... so i dropped off the ridge and scrambled on to the next one ,where i could hear the bleating of Goats ,GLORIOUS f***ing GOATS....and looking far out i could see them..not many ,but some ...more than ive seen in a very long time so all was good ... i was praying the old b***%*d wouldnt take off on one and spoil the whole show ,so i grumbled at the mutt,and19 points

Out at the shoot tonight on fox patrol, mainly because little Hugo’s dad wanted to show off his new pulsar thermal spotter, so on arrival we had a play with it and I have to say they are very impressive, I could see far more than I could see through my nv spotter although a lot of what I could see with the thermal I could not I.d. until we got closer to it and by then I could see it better with the nv but it’s definitely a good bit of kit to pick things out long before it comes into view with the nv, after 15 minutes or so we headed out, arriving at our boundary with next doors shoot I set the8 points

Depends what he wants it for.....see to my mind it’s this: You add a bit of bull to a saluki grey to just give it something extra But I can’t see what a saluki brings to a good wheaton if you get my drift. Run any dog with saluki blood at its 4th or 5th fox (or whatever) of the night and it’s the saluki blood that will blow up. I can only see one reason to have a Wheaton cross and saluki blood has no place in there. Just my humble and very uneducated opinion of course If.....and it is only an IF.....if I wanted a Wheaton Cross I’d want to find the most thick as6 points

after been house bound for several days due to severe rain and winds,i decided on the spur of the moment to head out to where the goats USED to be ..and took the 2 kelpie pups and the old dog Sonic and the Saluki bred Lucifer with me for a jaunt ,they too were kennelled up due to the weather,I left late and arrived just before 9 a.m....met the landowner ,had a chat and went on my way..He told me not a goat had he seen in 12 months ,so i was expecting that and no surprise..I threw the 223 over my shoulder and the mutts speeding around ,enjoying their new found freedom ,we hit the roughest spot5 points

for the first time i saw it yesterday,he dealt with a goat and did it quick enough (for a dog with feck all teeth)..,but boy it took it out of him,i wont be doing any more with him.i was in a field with the wife,2 pups at 3 months old and sonic for a bit of exercise,we walked half way down the field a hare got up,two turns from sonic, the hare jinked ,sonic stormed in ,and the hare took a turn and left the poor f****r trailing behind,he is passed it as youd imagine for a 12 year old dog..sorry i never got a decent bitch for him,...as an out and out hare dog ,he isnt the king ,but as an all roun5 points

Make a mental note ................................................. look into fox calls. I am a retired old fart so expensive ammo is not on my hit list at all but if I use enough ammo to make it viable, I will look into reloading and that is something I would really enjoy, takes me back to when I used to reload all my shotgun shells. I feel that I have hijacked this thread so I am sorry for that, I should start a new thread, sort Phil and his foxes, hmmm Phil5 points

A decent animal when you just want to bump into anything and everything mate. Miss this old boy, he was my pal.4 points

Good shooting Stav! Shooting off the top of a vehicle certainly has advantages especially on moonlit nights. Foxes see movement before anything else. My mate that i shoot with isn't the best shot either although off the vehicle he is ok up to two hundred yards or so. It's when you have to stretch the range that he comes unstuck, i think it's a confidence thing. He always says that's too far for me you better shoot it, which i suppose is better than missing it. Problem you have now is it is educated. You cannot use the same call or try and call to the same place as it will know w4 points

Nice pics and write up Stavross. I used to have a mate come with me and we took it in turns to shoot . He went through a bit of a “miss everything “ period. I got so wound up and pissed off about it that the partnership dissolved . He’s still a mate and to be fair he shoots a lot of deer . I think a lot of it was me pressuring him to take shots because I knew they were about to disappear, and he wasn’t comfortable or ready . Now that I am a “lone wolf “ I can only blame myself if anything goes wrong . If someone comes with me now they hold the rank of “Chief opener and closer of the gates “.4 points

Dear Adam Ward & Sons was started in 1824 by James Ward, one of my relatives. By the late 1800's my great great grandfather Henry Arthur Ward was running the business. Ward & Sons exported most of their guns to N America and were targeting the lower end of the market. Ward & Sons shotguns are well made but are not expensive or highly sought after, unfortunately. It probably would cost a lot more to repair the shotgun than it is actually worth but I would be interested in purchasing your father's gun, without repair, because my family made it. If you are interested in sel4 points

You are correct and there's no messing with the 243 but the cost of ammunition to shoot someone elses fox problem. Unless they are providing the ammunition ect. Why is it that not many farmers shoot. I can't see how it is any difference to bringing a crop / product to market. If I we're a sheep farmer and Charlie was taking the lambs I'd sort it myself. Wouldn't you ? Surely it's no different to people asking a farmer if they can't take there own tractor and fuel ect along and ploughing his fields for him for nothing ? We're all nuts.4 points

??. It’s sad that those complete idiots who know feck all are able to get a ban on hunting quarry they obviously know so little about. Probably couldn’t tell the difference between a hare and a rabbit if they were put in front of them.3 points

They are descended from the prophet Mohammed anyway ( via Moorish admixture in Spanish royalty). The mountbattens are part black- not Philips branch of the family though...
