Yesterday's planned ferreting trip was curtailed due to a combination of escaped Dexters and an afternoon spent repairing an electric fence unit. So this morning I was determined to snatch at least an hour or two in pursuit of something less lumpy than these two ignorant sods. THEY WEREN'T SO CUTE YESTERDAY! There are very few rabbits on my little bit of permission but the neighour ,despite being vegetarian herself, has no problem letting me skip the fence . With minimal gear stuffed in my pockets and only a ferret box and spade to carry I set off ,with the dog ,across her ro

2 spots to do today for local chicken farmer .hes been hammered since hes reared turkeys for xmas .first fox was bolted after 2 hours .just keeped running round. And when it did bolt it cought the farmers son off guard and his mist the f****r !!! 2nd spot we done produced a fox which was cleanly shot .new young dog my brother bought done well on him. Farmer was over moon .as u can see from picture lol.

This is a massive thank you to wilbs on here for gifting me a longnet with basket. Its like brand new... Ive used it today on a part of the perm that i couldnt do properly because i never had enough net or purse nets and used to lose a few out of it. I had all 100 yards of the net out and managed 3 rabbits and a good work out for the ferrets. Just to say thank you very much wilbs you are a true diamond. FF

I’ll also add that the Catholic and Protestant churches have a lot to answer for in that whole disaster........look up about “taking the soup” The very idea that you made people choose between their faith and starvation, and if they chose to eat they are then ostracised by the very religion they have rejected and people had to make them outcasts or they would have been ostracised too. The people of Ireland have suffered some amount of abuse over the years from governments and the various types of church.....it’s f***ing unbelievable when you start delving into it.

Well lead actually. Whilst buying black powder today I asked the proprietor if he had any lead shot to which he replied " sort of"! He then produced this old ammo box full of all sorts of lead airgun pellets, ball and shot. I bought the lot for a good price. There is more shot alone in the value of what I paid for it and enough air gun pellets to last me out! Sifting the shot through a collider was easy enough but sorting the pellets is a royal pain in the ....... SD.

Ireland has nothing to offer ???? free housing and benefits is all they need and they will come........and after what they have been through nothing you can throw at em could be any worse than what some have had............bonus is they get a house and money for nothing ..........they will come.........Wilf did lol

Done 4 miles of banking today .dogs done well ,put 5 foxes out .shot 1 .was a new spot so didn't know where to stand lads . This young dog is absolutely flying now .has a mass hatred for the fox .screams his head right off . More pics to follow .

I’m not so sure mate, folks are funny over here. They don’t say much but they are willing to do plenty. Plus, there just isn’t the same attraction for them here although they are here in small numbers......best guess is it will come down to what the EU tell Ireland to do, they will do whatever they get told to do. Wether the people put up with it is an entirely different matter mate......I suspect they won’t.

yes I do, but for all round lurchers they are a good ingredient, they add a calm watchfull temp in mho, and gilbey is right the lads that kept them in their hayday are old now or gone, from the coursing aspect some were absorbed in to the melting pot along with most things.

I genuinely think looking back allot of what were described as deerhound greyhounds, were deerhound lurchers rely, ie something else in the mix, the better ones anyway, most things that fall out of favour do so for a reason, usualy because something better comes along, look at all the regional collie types that have fallen by the wayside because of the border collie's superiority.

It is not quite a police state yet that we live in, its not yet illegal to just go out for a drive! rabbits can not be used as an excuse if you have no permission to be on land in the area, you admit to chasing rabbits you can be reported for poaching and that opens up a complete new can of worms gear confiscated etc this has always been the case even before the ban. Anyone out with me is told to say nothing other than " we are out for a drive " I do all the talking and all they get out of me is " out for a drive and I am now going home NOW " I've had them asking why are you in this area half
