  1. So was up and away sharp yesterday for the first trip this season, took my 3 of this years kits along just for a wee bit experience, first couple of hours they were bolting fairly fast and furious and before we knew it we had 20ish all my kits were bolting them along with the experienced ferrets we had, my big hob mick impressed quite a bit shifting bunny’s left right and centre and bolted them well although he did have a couple of kill ins. We lost about a dozen to unetted holes and probably had about 5-6 kill ins, didn’t even cover 1/3 of the land and ended the day with 40 accounted for.

  7. When I moved South to Kent from Wales, and then back across to settle in Hampshire,..all the local ferreting lads had whippets... There weren't, that many rabbits to go around, so when a struggling coney flipped the nets, those quicksilver whippets really saved the day... Great little dogs...

  9. Well the deer were a no show and to be honest I didn’t expect to see any early evening so I decided to hang around and have a go at the hoppers again, now this is the place where he likes me to leave them for the fox because he thinks they will not bother the ducks if there’s rabbits laying around, 12 was the bag and I left 6 and took the other 6 with me, I have to confess I did miss about 7 but they were all over 150 yards and I was just seeing how far I could push the mouse gun, I did hit one at 156 paces but they could of been a bit of luck involved ?

  10. My mate has a problem with rats in his pond. Mostly shoot catapults but had to get the gun out on here. Place is crawling, holes everywhere but due to it being where it is I can't smoke it for the terriers. Started off with my girlfriends sml pw900r. A very underrated gun. I've had everything with it from rabbits all the way upto hares and good distances aswell. So In using a small crew t6 and a scope clamp, baiting a spot on the ru Beith liquidized catfood and just waiting, and yo idont have to wait long. I've zerod the guns but shooting down a bank and I have missed a few shots, I'm no

  13. I have two fifty yard long nets that I made with advanced sheet netting ( many, many years ago) and they have caught a lot of rabbits in their time. I also have 3 fifty yarders made from Nels0ns sheet netting which are like silk, I think it may be time to retire the Advanced and move forward with the better gear.

  17. Couple of years back I had an American fella out as a favour to a pal of mine , we had our first fallow down by 7am , our second by 8,30 and his third by 9.15 ..gralloched and in the chiller by 11 am ..he could barely eat breakfast he was that excited , given he was telling everyone in the cafe in great detail all about our “hunting “trip , assuming everyone in there was keen on hunting as we were , he completely missed the tut tuts , frowns & head shaking of several woman .. Late after noon we was sat up in a seat where he got number four , he could have got five but was still realay

  19. I have a place that I have shot rabbits and foxes on for many years now, I had a call from the owner asking if I would come and have a look at a little bit of woodland he has planted as the deer are wrecking the trees, now I’m here and it would appear to be roe knocking them over so he has told me to take what I can ( very nice of him ) shame there’s very little time for the bucks, I may have to see if anyone else wants a go, it would be a shame to waste this opportunity, I’m going to have a sit out to see what’s about but I think this could be a first light thing ?

The attitude of a minority shouldn't have such an impact but I fear the lurcher hunting fraternity as an whole would be allowed to become the sacrificial lamb to enhance the interests of may I say more influential groups within the hunting fraternity to further there standing . 32. Missed at 150 yards Stavross? I missed a bleddy squirrel on Monday with the mouse gun at about 20 yards, shooting through the open passenger side front window whilst sat in the drivers seat. How I missed that I don’t know, but I think I was mindful of not hitting the door mirror and it affected my shot.?

They have the game, and different types, big open spaces, but very strict laws, weather thats a good or bad thing. Atb j

  41. Its gone bit quiet on the Let's See Your River catches forum, possibly due to the weather. Anyway ,a friend and I dressed defensively and braved the heavy rain on Sunday . According to my accomplice my over-large ex-army poncho made me look like a giant camouflaged condom but at least I was dry. We caught plenty of grayling, roach, chub and even a couple of bream-it was amost a bite a cast- but nothing huge. Then I hit a patch of quality gudgeon! One of which morphed from being a plucky wriggler on the line into a heavy toothy dead-weight when a pike took a fancy to an easy meal.
