  2. There are all different types of characters on this site, they can be howling to hilarious and everything in between. Some of them would hate each other and some would get on well. There are rows, insults, laughs.....you name it. But, I bet the one thing every lad on here would have in common is that they found Iworkwhippets post unfathomably sad and heart braking..........and I bet at this moment every last one of them would be on the mans side and wishing they could put an arm round his shoulder in his time of need. Everyone is rooting for you matey, make no mistake about

  4. That's a fantastic post Wilf... No one can say anything to ease your pain Keith, but loads of us on here enjoyed your posts with your whippet and ferret, it was as hunting should be, it made us all remember how we should behave in the field and really what hunting and particularly this site is about, sharing real experiences....no ego... no bullshit...just a man out enjoying nature and grabbing a rabbit or 2 for the pot.... We have also felt for you as you have shared snippets of what you have been going through, having to give up on your past time to care for your wife....we have re

  5. Cheers for the comments lads, keep your chin up Keith it's what she'd have wanted and expected, my old dad lost his wife of 60 yrs yesterday and me a mum, christ when I was a kid she ruled with a rod of iron and kept us in line with a few hard cracks on the arse wae a barbers strap lol? To look at her yesterday after a 18mth fight with cancer and she fought every step of the way it was heartbreaking, I never realised what there is involved in organising a funeral christ there's alot.On Saturday evening she told my dad she loved him and me it was nearly hare season so time for her to go, she wa

  6. Born hunter. tell you about the good times, I don't no where to start at the moment, but I honestly cant remember any bad times. I lost my 1st wife at the age of 34, then after time, I met Ruthy, couldn't believe id latched on to another goodun, I wanted fer nowt with her and her with me, never complained when I buggered off out nearly every day with my dogs n ferrets, come home to a beaming smile on her face, and a cooked meal, but that's it for me now, as for you, good luck in finding someone to share your life with

  7. that's the same everywhere I have been in running dogs a long time, and you often get slagged off for trying to pass on knowledge, and help people to possibly avoid making mistakes you may have made, and are often dismissed as a has been, or what you bred or did in the past is put down by younger lads, there can often be a lack of respect that would not exist in person, every one young and old has a story to tell and wise men listen and learn.

  8. Mate, you are in a bad place at the moment.......take a deep breath and just give yourself a month. 76 is no age and if your beloved wife saw something in you she would be heartbroken to think you didn’t see it in yourself. Theres is always a sunrise and there is plenty out there for you still. You have cared for your wife with tenderness and love for a long time and there are hundreds of people who really need someone who has that skill and experience........someone who has been there......find them, find an organisation that needs you. Make her proud old chap.

  12. With the promise of drizzle on the local forcast I decided to head out for a hour or 2 with the lamp. I traveled a bit to my first spot and up on arrival new I was fighting a losing battle it’s hard ground at the best of times but tonight was against me as I would easily be seen by the rabbits, as I had traveled out there I decided to have a look on a couple of fields just to get some idea if there was much about. After the first 3 small fields and 5 rabbits later I knocked that area on the head for the above reasons. whilst I was there I decided to check some old spots that i had flatte

  14. keith..i know the lads on here are all offering to take you out etc,and good of them.but.you are a bit of a reflection of my life being a bit of a loner etc..i find solice in the fields etc.i allways have.and go to the woods and have fire with my two dogs.the way forward keith is to try and keep occupied.this will be hard at the begining. i think that you will not want to be going away from your home because of the feeling of leaving your wife,if this makes sence.you will have a lot of turmoil etc to sort out over the next few weeks, which seems madness at this sad time. this is a differant ba

  23. Each year I like to kick off on the pheasants with a muzzleloader. I managed to do it again this year. The break in the rains saw me out after work. We flushed a bird at about 25yds, left to right. The 36g load of #6 had it coming down about forty yards away in thick nettles! I fancy diced and cooked in white wine and dijon mustard for this one. Happy hunting you feller's this season.

  25. At the risk of being boringly obvious here moderation, variety in whole foods etc & cutting out man made shite in your diet has to be key. I’ve been working on my diet for years which has included cutting down meat intake, increasing fish, vege etc. We eat meat on the weekends & the best quality we can get regardless of it being red meat or not & we do find we enjoy it much more like that. what really pisses me off when they start talking about studies & reducing meat intake etc etc is they never mention consuming wild meat like its some taboo subject? Meanwhile you’ve got

  27. How terribly sad im so sorry for your loss iworkwhippets. Grief is such a horrible confusing thing to deal with,im sure everybody means well but you know yourself better than anyone and everybody deals with it in different ways, times ive had to deal with grief i just had to lock myself away for as long as it took almost " cold turkey " like... and not come out until i was ready....had someone come along being all chatty and positive id probably have given them a dig i think sometimes grieving is good, essential almost if you want to move on. The good place you are in,and a place where

  33. The one thing I have noticed with regard to health is that the vast majority of old men have flat stomachs. The grim reaper loves fat bellies. I've seen a lot of my friends die before their time of obesity. I make it a habit to keep myself thin. If I start to get porky and lethargic I don't eat much and move more until I lose the weight. Simples.

  40. When the doctor comes tell him how you are feeling. I think you are worrying unnecessarily about money. The certificate doesn't cost anywhere near that mate. Life's always worth living even it's it's not as great as when you were younger. There's always something interesting in the day to keep you going. Get out with the dogs into God's cathedral:--the countryside. There's nothing more healing to the mind.
