I find pictures of the dogs from the past interesting, especially the run of the mill hunting types. These were by a French artist visiting North Africa around 1850.10 points

Personally, I prefer to see things, with my own eyes,...and then, come to a conclusion...I believe it is always the fairest way..?.7 points

huge can of worms is opened when Bedlingtons are discussed. Good luck in your quest. I certainly wouldn't look for a bitch that's been banned for fighting, a dog doesn't have to be a fighter to be game, I would avoid that side of it.6 points

From another sight. It probably looks strange to us now but in 1938 in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire this was the display you would have seen at some time of the year at your local... butchers shop. "In the days before fridges, a butcher's shop displays its many rabbits, ducks, pheasants, geese, hares and other fowl. Eating rabbit was very popular, they provided a ready source of meat, as they breed year round."5 points

Northenlite is the man to ask about this subject. But getting a sensible answer depends on his mood and whether you are an Englishman or not?.4 points

Got mine doing it the house with tennis balls first then it's a game for them. Go out in to the open I normally let them have a mooch about first new smells and all that then tennis ball comes out but after they have that down I go out with lamp and dummy and get them doing the job on that it's all a grate game for the dog I try and make it as fun for the dog as I can so it's not like boring training. That's the just of how I done it with my dog. (Along with where the fcuk is he off to now with that ball)4 points

Never made any secret of it. Didn't bother the raggy-lad beaters in over twenty years of bush whacking with them. I don't come on here to spy. I still fish and do mole trapping and used to do a bit of ferreting as a lad and a lot of pigeon, rabbit and other vermin shooting and trapping before I retired. Your secrets are safe with me. Mainly because a) I've no fecking idea who you are. And b) I don't give a shit. ?4 points

Lads,i am looking for some information on the breed of lurcher,[Bedlington x greyhound first cross], I have always fancied breeding this lurcher .can I ask a few questions to any lads on here that have bred or own this breed,1,the first cross, what height do they make,2 are they ideal for the lamp and working with terriers along cover, and are they big enough and bold enough to tackle anything bigger than a hare or rabbit. I was always interested in this breed of lurcher, but like everything I either hadn't the time or the space to breed one ,but now as I have plenty of time and loads3 points

they are still out there ,a few good lads keeping them right, seen 1 do over 8 hrs to ground in some of the hardest dirt I've ever shifted...but they will all have a drop of fell terrier in them, and be on the small side for lurcher breeding imo.....3 points

Thought I'd post an update on the pup. He's coming up to 9 months now. He's gonna be a lot bigger than I first thought, he's 24tts at the minute! Lovely pup well chuffed with him, had a couple of bunny's in the day on his walks. Gonna start him slow on the lamp in a couple of months ?3 points

I don’t think even in the modern bedlingtons they have much control over size as it’s up an down in size I know a guy that used to have a straight bedlington at 20tts that he used to lamp for novelty it used to do alright for a bit of fun2 points

Pikies =pricks! Hope karma serves him up a massive dose! Wasn't even humerous, as said poor girl working for shite wage, would have served him a nice cup of piss coffee all from my own bladder!2 points

A Grew, being a cross itself over your cross will likely throw a more varied litter, with the odd little un whereas a pure grey or whippet should even the pups out, I’d decide what size your looking for in the pups and pick the sire to produce them.2 points

I didn't always not give a shit though. Back in the 90's, before I went to the dogs I was quite heavily involved with a team from Sth Yorks who were marauding the country taking deer with lurchers. That aspect wasn't really the issue. It was the Subarus and caravans that they were bringing home as souvenirs of their hunting trips and the lock up filling stations that were being emptied of their cigarettes overnight. As I had the most intelligence on this team I was asked by Nth Yorkshire to go up to their HQ where they were holding a briefing about this team, one of whom lived in their co2 points

I bugged out because It was better for me to do so......and much better for the person who said it. I like walking around free and I’m sure the other fella just likes being able to walk around2 points

Haha you clown . The farmers are usually nothing but gents with me and I’ve an as English accent as it gets. Thankfully the majority have moved on and don’t use the past to be bitter with folk. It’s harder to get permission in England that’s for sure.2 points
