  1. My lad asked me if I was out tonight as it’s hit September and I wasn’t actually going to bother as I thought it may be a little hard work with not much wind and the noise of the stubble on fields snapping and crunching but it’s not often he wants to go out but I knew he was toying with the idea so I said we would go for an hour. Exactly as I thought, a little too much noise but we managed to find a squatter for the pup. First time lamping first slip and first bunnie for him so well happy. Retrieve wasn’t perfect as he f****d around a little with it 10 yards away once he’d caught it but it’s a

  4. Went to bed feeling worn out, but happy, then.... At 2:30 this morning, we were bloody attacked by a startled sound of boar ? I'm in my hammock, belly full, a nice bit of drink and a spliff in me... the dog just starts growling. That low growl that a dog does when it really means business. Next thing was this almighty crashing and grunting, the dog goes f***ing mental. I jumped out of the hammock with my chopper in hand, head torch in the other and sees about 5-6 boar standing their ground about 10 yard away, stomping and mashing their teeth. Well I shit it obviously lol, started sc

  8. Well, I am soon to pick up this lovely TX200HC rifle in L/H walnut guise and .22. I had intended to buy the .177 but a bit of a mix up at AA means that they delivered a .22 instead to my favourite gun shop. I had said I'd wait for the .177 to arrive, but after shooting the .22 - and a couple of days later - I have decided to go for the .22. It was so damn smooth. It'll complement perfectly the HW100 .177 I bought at the same store. While I adore the HW100 (I've had two before, sold them and getting back into it now) , something inside me says to the TX is going to be SOOOO much more satisfying

  9. So, I decide to go to the mountains again. My plan on Friday was to have a Chinese buffet, early night and catch the 6:45am train... That didn't happen.. I got steaming drunk, ended up with a kebab at 4am, babbling about needing to go get the rucksack and dog ? I caught the train (on-time incredibly) and I was in some bloody state, dressed for the mountains, smelling like I've been in the lash, still pished, with the hangover setting in? I get to where I'm going (Santa Celloni) and find a bar, to grab a coffee, gather my thoughts and try to sober the hell up. That doesn't h

  22. I've had this reloading gear for maybe two years now. Finally run my factory stuff down and I'm getting shouted at to kill some foxes so here's my first reloads. I had a few road bumps along the way. My decapping/sizing die is too tight to get the casing neck in, so had to blag my mates and my first batch of reloads I f****d up on the seating depth. Conditions weren't ideal (windy) so I got some horizontal strings and poi was off zero but I reckon the half inch vertical spread of the 58gr N160 are the money! I'll want to see what they are doing at 300yrds and of course group th

  23. The accuracy of the .177 HW 97 is top drawer. I was waiting for a rabbit or two but saw this squirrel at a lased 38 yds high up in an old oak tree. Out like a light. About 40 minutes passed and a rabbit slowly raised its head in a weeded area 43 yards to my left. The rifle was already cocked, just the tiniest of " snicks" and the safety was off, shooting off Primos sticks, building the shot and - This is where all the practice pays you back. atb. Mark.

  32. FYI it's 25-06rem with Nosler 85gr ballistic tips seated at 0.02" off lands. I could f**k about half a grain either side of 58 but if 58 prints under an inch (potentially 0.5") at 200yrds and has less than 5" drop at 300 then I no longer care.
