I saw the writing on the wall years ago, none of my boys keep terriers, I wouldn't wish it on them. It's a hard habit to break, I've been banned twice, jailed once and I'm still out there doing my bit. How many lads would it take getting 5 years to stop 99% of you ? Do the maths, it's cheaper to give 10 or 20 of you varying jail terms upto 5 years than continuisly pump funds Into rural crimes. How many of you would still be giving it large after loosing your liberty and the right to keep dogs ? I've had it twice and it leaves a mental scar on you, fair play if you can p9 points

Was a different age and cameras etc weren't everyday things, pic were for special occasions, there's no pic of me a a babe till school photos lol, so the idea of takings pics of dogs or game was never on the cards... my old man would have leathered me for the risk of the pics being used as evidence. The youngster with phones on cameras etc will never understand that memories were our cameras, meeting mates for a wander was our facebook and the Exchange and mart our forum.7 points

I never said pack up, it's up to each and every one of us to make his mind up what the future holds. There's always loopholes, there's always ways of covering your arse. The way I see it unless you're bang to rights the only way they can charge you with animal welfare issues or cruelty is if you didn't seek veterinary care for your terrier. Jump through hoops, keep fighting the good fight4 points

Rubbed my shoulders raw lugging a small car battery around motor bike batteries lasted about an hour, no good for a serious night out, but no choppers in those days , no self appointed gamekeepers, no internet braggarts fecking the game up. Glad im an old fart.3 points

Just a quick post I got some new purse nets from a very good good chap on this site netmaker Paul much appreciated bud and couldn’t resist to take them out so took the day off work today and done some tricky burrows under a couple of willow trees no long nets just testing out the new purse nets great day missed a heap hidden pop holes in the long grass so lost a lot but very impressed with the new kit.cheers again bud definitely recommend your nets and I’ll have a few boys wanting some in the near future ? so here’s the results3 points

I tend to look at it this way . I don’t like killing foxes when they’ve got litters of cubs . Because if you kill a milky vixen then unless you can find the earth and deal with the cubs they will starve. But if they are doing damage and killing livestock, then they should be dealt with and every effort should be made to find and destroy the litter. Personally I start on them when they are “on top” and starting to hunt independently, mousing etc . But I try to get the parents first , because the cubs are easier to deal with . None of us I’m sure take “pleasure “ in the killing of any creature,3 points

I haven't heard people doing that but if they are then they're the scum. You should always respect your prey whatever it is. Foxes are beautiful creatures and in the right setting are wonderful animals to observe. They also have a place to play in the co system keeping animals such as mice down and clearing up the dead and injured. The only reason we're out shooting them is because there's an abundance of them in the wrong places, and when in the wrong places, such as on a poultry farm, or fields with young lambs etc, they can be very destructive. The unfortunate reality is foxes of3 points

I find my whippets are sensitive to discipline but get over it quick(maybe lack of brains, thinking) I don't know. They are definitely not sensitive when hunting and can cop bad rips and try to keep going. Also are fearless when confronting dangerous animals even though they are not built to tackle them.Their gameness is what I admire in them, that and their gentle quietness in the house. They are smart enough for the hunting game and for me, I cant see what collie would bring except maybe thicker hide.2 points

So went out with the farmer this evening and shot 3 of the cubs. Even with their siblings dropping they still came into the call. The last one disappeared with its mother. I have nothing against shooting cubs as I know to shoot them 3 when grown up wouldn’t be as easy, just wanted peoples views on the matter. Since November I’ve shot 32 foxes on this single permission. So never a lack of foxes here. Thanks for the replies2 points
