Today chaps I smoked a rack of Beef Ribs six hours on the smoker another hour wrapped in baking paper and foil and then 15 minutes direct heat to Chrisp up I started with a home made rub. Then my wife made a sticky sauce to put over the ribs, when I cut into them the smoke halo was present and it was melt in the mouth like butter the feed back I got was amazing I felt like crying lol here’s a few pics.

My strange bred dog has turned out to be a handy fella and capable of most things. Really enjoying my time with him long may it last

Last night, I had a drive to one of my perms just for a look around, one the way back, some very small rabbits were playing in the lane and on the grass verge. I slowed right down to let them get out of the way and while I was almost stopped, a young badger came out from the long grass, sat in the middle of the lane for a scratch. I rolled the car very slowly and within about 15' I put the hand brake on. Expecting the badger to run off, I was surprised to see he or she was quite happy to forage in the grass so moving slowly with the phone camera, I got to about two feet away and took a photo,

I think it depends on what you want from a lurcher, they are different things to different people. I want a mooching dog that can work with bushers and ferrets, have a few runs on the lamp and help me out deer stalking and maybe even pick up the odd shot bird. I think a lab x would suit me. If I wanted a dog to do alot of nights on the lamp or big ground I'd be looking for a different x

Perhaps I just got lucky but I grew up with a lab x collie grey of unknown percentage. I can't see what they would bring to a running dog except a big appetite.As bird said 1/4 lab would be ok but 1/4 a lot of dogs would be ok.I've seen a lot that are dog aggressive and would never spoil a running dog line with one.

For me in the right hands should make ideal mooching/marking/ferreting dogs. Ideal for fur and feather i could never understand why they were not more popular compared to first cross collie/greys and i love collie crosses.The right lab surely has some good positives to offer including temperament.
