  1. We have just had the 2nd silage cut here, and it’s for me a good chance to get around the shoot and start to make a dent in the fox population. I’ve been finding litters and doing my best to deal with them . I’ve had a go with the terriers and been trapping, but now the gloves are off and I will now be nocturnal for a while. I have decided that with all the kit I take with me for a nights foxing I needed a special bag to put my binoculars, thermal spotter , bullets , torch , latex gloves etc . Instead of them rolling around the seat and taking me two or three trips to load up and unload the tr

  7. It's a good rifle but not interesting enough. Truth is the Bruno is to close to my other rimfire, a cz 452. So I tested a marlin 60 on Friday and I was very impressed. It fed four types of sub sonic ammo and had a nice cycle and although heavy a good trigger break. I will be swapping this weekend and then submitting the paperwork before collection of the marlin. But this afternoon I removed the scope off the Bruno and just used the open sights and Winchester lasers. First rabbit was 61 paces. Next shot was 30 I guess and the third was 71 paces. I was h

Come the season, say september, just take him out when conditions are favorable, and just give him two or three runs a night. Build it up slowly and surely. Nice looking pup by the way ?

  26. Can't like it bosun but that's spot on mate. I've 3 girls, 2 of which live with me and have been going swimming lessons since 8/12 weeks old. 3 year old can swim 5 metres, dive to the bottom for objects and is one skill off her level 2 swim england. 18minth old nearly has her level 1and will glide etc. Both have some really good life saving skills from water babies; these are really important to me because we have water on 3 sides and I do alot of bait collecting and sea fishing. My 7 year old can breast stroke, front and back crawl and has her 400 metres. The girls a

  29. I love a good swim and f**k around in the water. We go to the local baths most Saturdays or Friday afternoons. Free entry. My little girl loves the water and my boy is getting the bug as well. Like what socks said , in my town we have a river that comes right through it. It was basically a community centre underneath the bridge in a summers day, every kid there, tyres, rafts , canoes etc. I was younger than my little girl when i first started going down. Terrifying. Now I live near the coast and the importance of being good in the water is important as I like wasting entire d

  30. Sometime in the morning before the sunrise we were up for some more freeze dried cuisine in preparation to find our kills and maybe drop another. I forgot to mention that just after I had shot mine another mob right over on our right was stirred which had a reasonable bull for Kurt. With his second shot he appeared to drop it into a ravine, so we had two to recover. As expected we found the mobs again with a couple of bulls as possibles. One bull in particular quite close to where Kurt had shot his the night before had a lovely bleached mane. We moved into a shooting position and I

  31. So as a few of you know, I've recently had a few weeks hunting around New Zealand's South Island. I did all sorts so not really sure where to put this thread but the main hunt was Himalayan Tahr in the Southern Alps so I guess this 'Big Game' section is as good a place as any. In addition to the Tahr, I hunted pigs with dogs, shot duck on the opening day from a mai mai, fished for sea run trout, lamped various grass munching pests (possum, rabbit, hare) and generally experienced rural and wild New Zealand. Firstly, I have to thank @Tyla for putting me in touch with Kurt, a local farmer/hu

  36. It sounds so obvious but how buoyant you are makes a hell of a difference. It's frustrating when people who are naturally buoyant and gone on to be confident swimmers tell me that I "must not be relaxing". It all became very apparent when my instructor had me doing a few lengths of just kicking with one arm stretched out and the other by my side focusing on rotating to breath. She told me "your ear should be flat on your shoulder at all times to stop you lifting your head and causing your legs to drop" (legs dropping is the bane of my life in the pool ). So I said hesitantly "okay, but h

It’s called a Nighthawk hunting bag , first impression is it’s not very good quality, about the same sort of quality as Jack Pike stuff . I normally get stuff that will last, but this is just going to sit on the passenger seat . I’m going to stick some Velcro on the bottom to stop it sliding off the seat . I’m also going to cut some hardboard to make the bottom rigid . I like the pockets and size though. In case you are wondering I wear plastic gloves when I pick up dead foxes now as I can’t stand

  40. Funny this topic should come up... I really want to be a good swimmer, not just swimmer but good in and under water, have done for a few years now. I mean I can swim to save my life but not competently and that is not something I'm happy about. Anyway, a few months ago I swallowed my pride and signed up for 1-2-1 tuition with a local Uni and have been having 'lessons' every Saturday. I've found out so much shit that was wrong with my stroke and now have a much better grasp of things, technically. I've also come to realise I'm not naturally suited to water which is probably why I ha
