  4. I was a youngster in the 70,S and think it was brilliant, I may have rose tinted spectacles on but I feel life takes a massive down hill turn when money becomes our objective, I never had fa so never missed fa we made do and neighbours helped each other out instead of grassing each other up as seems to be the norm today, poverty is the mother of invention and would many of us not be the men we hope we are today if we had not had to struggle and fight for everything we now have ??? to the 70s from me

  6. I thought that too. But some of the cork lads with white dogs are top men. No money changed hands which is the cause of all evil. They would fill your yard with dogs if they trusted you.Every dog was gifted and if circumstances changed then you would call them first before moving dogs. That doesn't mean that that phone calls don't happen and arguments happen but I'd call that passion and you can argue about ability over whichever dog or lines but money was never mentioned.

  7. I disagree on that Rob, would you rather there was no books? I would say the books I read about the older boys when I first started really gave me something to aim for, it’s also nice to read about old dogs and history to be down in black and white rather than lost.

  8. Honda were in the UK because it gave them access to the eu car market without the prohibitively difficult labour laws of european countries like France. They are now leaving the UK because Japan has signed a free trade agreement with the european union, which allows them to sell cars produced in Japan directly to the eu without the high import tariffs which would make them too expensive for the euro market. It has nothing to do with brexit, other than in the sense of reminding us that it is a good idea because the eu does not act in our interests, which it has demonstrated with honda by wipin

  10. Current crop of young ‘uns in work at the moment are snowflakes. They won’t tackle most things, always play the health and safety card and sit quietly in the canteen looking at YouTube. I’ve taken to have my dinner out on the moor and not go into the office unless I have to. The dart board has gone, the card school has gone, the push penny table has gone, curry night on Mondays has gone, having a kick about in the yard has gone, they just sit staring at their phones and polishing their cars ?

  12. Just like the trump scenario is playing out anything which remotely resembles the left must be demonised and not trusted even if the alternative is keeping/voting in lunatics! Be very very careful with that ideology my friends. Some might be jizzing Thier pants when they here anti tribe retorect from Thier heroes and foolishly ignore Thier sheer corruption and blatant idiocy cause anything other is wrong and should never be in power. That is a one party state and is never a good thing. Cause if history has taught you anything there will come a day that same one party state

  17. That’s fair enough and you’re lucky to be in the minority that had a Father that was into the terriers, but for most others(myself included) them books with interviews in with the old ‘Greats’ like the old year books are what really spurred me on.

  20. Also without wishing to stereotype most of those folk on that film were just the normal typical deadhead dole heads that lived on every estate in Britain, I mean selling your fishing rod for a packet of fags prick, and if the neighbours had the leccy cut off you run a lead across from your neighbours and paid a few quid each week them people are still sat in there council houses today moaning about how unfair life is, but cream always rises to the top and shit always sinks ??

  21. It still amazes me in 2019 that people need to be told of the lies of the establishment. It's their default setting, FFS. You can tell they're lying because their lips are moving! No internet superstar will change that. Doesn't matter how much truth or how many memes. The opposition is more concerned with winning than being right and will simply tune out anything that challenges their established narrative. It's evident here on THL with it's rhetoric on the mainstream media. Anything that challenges the narrative is liberal lefty propaganda. Anything that supports it is gospel turth that

  23. Load of shit. There's more social mobility now than ever before. Poor paid jobs are a stepping stone, you can work up. There are people who due to circumstances are in a bad way but a fit healthy man should always be able to graft and earn enough. If someone with no English can come here and build a life then I'm sure it's possible for most of us

  25. Nothing wrong with reading them and I agree there should be books, I’ve read loads of them and want to read more. I think I didn’t word it correctly, what I meant was I couldn’t admire someone because they’re in a book or famous, anyone in that category is happy to be in the limelight and I can’t admire a person like that, not that there’s anything wrong with it, but that’s just me, I hate to idolise. The only person I admire in the terriers would be my father as he showed me the ropes.

  27. I started work in the seventies and I’ve never been out of it, always worked. Left school on the Friday, started work on the Monday. I said to my old fella, “ I’ll look for a job in a few weeks”. He said “ like f**k you will, get out and find one before you leave school”. There were jobs everywhere when I was a kid. I must have had 4-5 in my first few months out of school, like most of my friends. It took me a while to settle down in something I liked. Maybe it was localised job shortages in some areas?

  28. Person I looked up to was Nick Stevens for the reason he was hell of a chap with handling quarry and never to my knowledge charged a penny for a pup .Some will have stories about him ,this and that but who hasn’t done something they weren’t particularly proud of . A lot of lads owe their yards to his vision and the way he went about breeding ,keeping it tight . Another is my old mate sadly passed on Norman Dunn ,who showed me the ropes and how to care for my workers both during and after a dig .Never heard a cross word from him either . Present day lads I respect would be the t

Hopefully sunday (but the weathers looking very warm) as i'm out on the same estate and we got 4000 acres of next doors shoot to go look over as well.I am making the most of her as it goes as iv'e recently found some lumps on her tits and that ain't a good sign in a older dog, she's been a bloody good old dog to me and has given me many years of great sport from bushing rabbits to having a dig (believe it or not, lol) and i'll miss her greatly when she goes so yeah i'm enjoying her while i can and she's getting a chance at some sport while she can and i'll post about it if i can ..
