  1. That is a lovely picture of the Red Beddy,..he really does look beautiful. Personally,..we always used related dogs when breeding our lurchers, mostly because it was easier to use the Boy/girl next door than to travel all over the UK... I was once a village Boy and nobody I knew had a car...and to us, the Fens, the Moors and the Dales, were as remote as another country. So, we played safe,..rarely improved on our cur dogs and were blissfully happy in our ignorance. When I could get about, I used dogs from all over, bred loads,..won a few, and definitely lost a few...?

  3. it was instant as far as our own stuff in my area was concerned, it gives a coolness to the offspring, take a f1 for example straight away you kill the raw aggressive almost reckless pace from the greyhound, and adds the calmness of the saluki giving a dog straight away that is more difficult for a hare to deal with. a flight animal can deal with a dog coming at it fast trying to out pace it, a dog that steady's when it gets there and watches and reacts to the hares movement is a different proposition altogether, when I watched dogs running, I watched it all. some times talking to a mate after

We had a woman move in next to our shoot and all of a sudden our ducks (500) started using her pond , we caught her putting feed out for them and when we pulled her she said if there on my land there mine and under no circumstances were we allowed on ....and as much as we could do they still wandered up to her pond ...they weren’t a problem all summer but by December they had trashed her garden , the pond stunk and the whole place was a mud and shite tip ...she soon had a change of heart about pushing them of on Shoot days ...following years she was a changed woman , so much so she got into pi

It serves him right, nothing worse than people sticking there nose into something they know nothing about, if he doesn’t like how the countryside works then why move there a few years ago I used to do work for taxi lads and they were buggers for not paying so our favourite trick was to pull a door card off and put tuna in the door also milk in the carpet under the seat does the job ?

  23. they les likely to be closely related so widens the gene pool you can then cross back in with less risk of inbreeding, a bit like every one using the same stud sooner or later they all like brothers and sisters, (bit like here in the fens lol)

  32. Thinking of stopping trapping magpies, and putting the Larson traps away for another year . Glad I didn’t do it sooner. Found this adult dog fox in this trap this morning. He wasn’t very happy to see me . I’ve been seeing a fox in this area but never when I’ve been shooting , so I was very pleased to see him ! I’ve had cubs in Larson traps before, but never an adult. Result!!

  33. As many are "Town-ies" or City dwellers now, it is becoming rare that we process our own animals and foods. In a previous Thread I started I showed what we do with a half of a pig each year, this year I will show you the start of the task and what we do to prepare the pig for butchering and making our smallgoods. This part is not such a family affair as compared to the processing the next day. Previous links to other thread - http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/374657-home-made-pork-sausages-by-my-italian-family/ In the beginning there was three fat piggie

Me and mate decided we cycle to Buckfast only about 10 mile each way, but I never had a bike so used my sisters, bloody thing only had one gear. When I look at the photo now not one car, its wall to wall with them now there. Me with a synthetic leather jacket and my mate with his school gabardine coat, some of you older guys will remember them. Cheers Arry

  40. Some of the BBQ pics. The best part of the day, fresh pork steak, liver, ribs a plenty etc etc We always cook up some of the sausage mix to taste and see if anything needs to be added, EACH lot of minced meat is cooked and tasted, once its in the skin, its too late. Soak a bit of lard grease into the bread - Yumo.. My favourite, the liver with bay leaf.... I was salivating, and swear I blissed out at the first bite. Pizza bread

  41. BONUS material.... Using the blood from the pig. Different nationalities use blood, my heritage is German and they often use the blood in a 'blutwurst', my Italian family use it in sausage, pasta sauce, and fried as a cooked meal. It is first boiled to a thick dense block and then cooled and dried, then it is sliced thin and fried with onion, garlic, butter, salt, pepper and chili. I tried this fried blood, it is strong in flavour and VERY rich with texture and also filling. But 24hrs later you know that you ate it ! and if you ate a bit much you know for 48hrs..

  43. Tbh I didn't think twice.... I stopped nailing the mum, threw my mobile out of my pocket and jumped right in ? Jokes aside it really shook my head up. I was shaking for an hour or two afterwards. The daft mother was bashing on about how babies can breathe or hold their breath underwater ffs.. I kid you not, that child was under, she'd stepped off the sand shelf where it drops off really deep and the water is very murky. So even though she was only 6" under, you could barely see her bright blonde hair. No-one saw her except me, no noise nothing just one weird splash that caught my attentio
