  1. .........Lancaster bomber crews took off from Lincolnshire, on a top secret mission over Germany, known as Operation Chastise. All of those involved earned their place in history, including the 52 who didn't come home. The men were flying from 617 Squadron.............The Dambusters. https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/960073/dambusters-flypast-2018-peak-district-derbyshire-raf-617-squadron-world-war-2

  3. my type of work wouldn't be without one with hound blood in i think hound blood or collie blood is a must good feet good stamina good jacket but most important of all you need independence and they need to be willing to search for hours sometimes not seeing or finding a thing for a few days on the bounce

  4. At the back end of last season I managed to get out on the hills in various locations. I mainly lamp, bush and try to fit in the odd bit of ferreting. I enjoy all types of work but have really taken to getting out on the hills. I see a lot less up there but really like seeing the dogs hunting and letting them range. The dogs have taken to it fairly well, especially my lurcher. He’s saluki collie grew. My busher enjoys it but won’t range too far. He’s young so will hopefully pick it up. Im probably looking at bringing on another lurcher pup next year so want to start doing my homework.

  6. Not introduced this bitch the the group yet. 2 years ago, a few days after my 7 month old collie/grey was killed by a car, I was being offered many pups by kind people but nothing seemed to click. I spoke to Dan Poxon who had a couple left from his litter which I'd watched grow, including his original pick. So off I went, a 3 hour drive to have a look. It was a medium sized bitch puppy with a striking white blaze, she'd been my eye catcher when seeing photos of the litter. She had a good disposition and was playful with her litter mates and it just seemed right, so it was meant to be. Hei

  8. Putting a tiny pup alone in a kennel in a strange place is asking for problems. She needs to be with you, not shut away on her own. 90% of the sort of problems you're having would not happen if the pup was able to cuddle up to someone. Dogs are social creatures, so being isolated is so terrifying: she has lost the security of her litter mates. You are a giant in a strange land. Some pups are more needy and worried than others, but to think that kennelling a pup alone will 'toughen it up' is an outmoded and cruel way of doing things. Keeping a puppy with you, letting it fall asleep on your lap

  10. You have hit the nail on the head there fellah ... My dogs are just like me,...wee fat feckers, that love their grub and live for the hunt,....certainly wary of strangers, and yes, most definitely needy, especially when it comes to carefully choosing our hunting companions...

  11. ? Not so sure about that doctrine with a mouching dog,... I like my dogs around me, I enjoy lavishing attention on them... For me, its part and parcel of having a canine pal... Of course, when out on the hunt,..shit can happen,..and then,..its time to harden your heart... This bond can help us both assess the situation,...it can definitely save the day (and the night),...so I strive to become good pals with a dog. If I wanted a jukel kept in the manner of a racing dog, I would keep a racer,..but I don't...so its plenty of fuss, hugs, and strokes from me...

  17. Cracking day up here so obviously you would expect the ice cream van out. What you wouldn't expect was his choice of chimes. Lily Marlene. A favourite of the German troops in ww11 about a prostitute lol Not the tune you would associate with kids and ice cream. Wonder if he even realises.

  18. Haven't posted on here since December 2013! Thought it's time to show my face again. When I last posted, my young bitch Nancy was a family pet catching rabbits around the farm and stables. I was young, clueless, no idea how to work a lurcher and totally thrown in at the deep end. I picked brains for info, watched others from a distance and then found my own way with the bitch who is now 6 years old. She became a pretty damn good dog. I have ended up having several ferrets, and bred litters too. She is a remarkable ferreting dog with a brilliant nose, patience of a saint and cat

  19. Great sport my type of terrain for that type of terrain you need a dog with good feet a lurcher without good feet is useless it will also need a good coat not a thin sighthoundy coat also a dog with plenty of stamina and have a good recall and plenty of brains them hills can be dangerous places to work a dog.Regards Collie John

  23. And ps. Your 100% correct. I do think it's the best dog in the country. Simply because I own it. Its my dog. So if I like writing about it and showing pictures it's because I'm proud to own such a little honest dog.

  27. Paras used to do a jump annually on Caythorpe hill years ago out of Herc's. It was great as a kid to see. I think airborne engineers or something were based at Caythorpe during the War and so it went back to that.

  28. Yes, I agree fully... I've acquaintances who favor the hare coursing types and also dogs of Bull blood,..and like yourself, they go to extraordinary lengths to obtain the best possible lines. The lurchers that they create are superb,..obviously, they do not always produce canine perfection or the type that they desire, but I'm sure it 'ups the odds' a tad.?

The bull cockers were bred to run a couple of local farms witch I did walk most days knocking bunny’s an fox out of not so heavy covers/woods/hedges.A good mate of mine was on the spade side of things on the farm an they was handy to have around at the time, they did bump in to Fox in cover on a good few occasions borristhemaid, but as I’ve always said they are not in the same league as a well bred beagle/spaniel as a good mate on here has a nice little pack now and doin very well with them.atb mud

  41. one of the keys to getting ur product and name out in the business world is too get 50 influential people talking about it, they in turn tell and influence others and so on the domino affect starts.its the same in the doggy world but you only need 2 or 3 wel known dog men talking about a dog,i bet any money if 1 or 2 wel known terrier men started talking about a made up dog called HARDY for EXAMPLE,before you know it his name will have spread far and wide.
