I know there is a fishing section but thought this might have a general appeal. On jollies in France at a friend's pond after carp. Got here and they are all bloody spawning - for those that aren't into fishing when they are shagging for the week they aren't interested in eating at all. Then this thing took my bait. Ugly slimy thing but an absolute beast. 45minutes battle on 15lb line. Scales bottomed out at 67lb. Estimated at 100lb. Unreal and saved my holiday!!!

i find it abit strange that vj day is not celebrated as much as ve day yet many thousands of men died in burma and the pacific .

Took a friend fishing on the farm pond. Rather embarrassingingly l insisted he have the tench hotspot ,then caught three tench myself from the swim next door. He was happy enough with 20 or so roach and rudd though.

I went to the 50th VJ Day celebrations in London mate, it was a huge day, tens of thousands of people. I stood on tower bridge that evening and watched a great fireworks display. Ended up in that old wooden pup in St Katherine’s dock and all the crew off the royal yacht Britannia were in there…..I was battered and I stood in a table and got them all singing “I’m forever blowing bubbles” before I fell backwards out of a window ! lol Luckily it was ground floor ! Great end to an evening !

Went to the tar pits,there's oil oozing out of the area,they put road cones over the lawn when oil bubbles up,the area stinks of tar/oil.Loads of Dire wolf,mammoth,American lion etc skeletons pulled out of the pits,the guy told me even today coyotes and raccoons get stuck.
