  2. Well, I’m not a “fox man “ and I’ve never had “fox dogs” ! Ive had a few dogs that could kill foxes but couldn’t be considered “fox dog”. I had a 29 1/2” , 75lb deer/grey that could kill foxes, as has been said, kill foxes in a shake, and so it should, a bitch of that size against a 15lb fox, I’d cull it if it couldn’t, but would it do five or six a night, five or six nights a week ? Probably not! I had a beddy type, 23” and around 38/40 lb that would roar into foxes like a Tasmanian Devil but it was a battle, a war of attrition, she’d win but it was a struggle ! So, th

  4. Up on Dartmoor again hoping to hear the Cuckoo and see the fields of Blue Bells at Emsworthy Mire. Well Seen and heard the Cuckoo one landed for about two seconds above our head. Blue Bell looks like couple weeks time. Loads of twitchers after photos of the Red Starts and Cuckoos. If anybody is down in a week or two Emsworthy and Halwell lawn will be a mass of Blue Bell. Acres of them. Think this is a Willow Warbler Not very good photo I'm afraid of a Red Start. Few little Thumpers. Couple os ponies in the distance on to

And of course, a wee drink and a lot of craic ! Get yourself over mate, I’ll see you there ! Cheers.

  8. Set off from Porto this morning. At about 11AM our train stopped dead. No explanation of what was happening and about 45 mins later someone mentioned the power cut. We had to walk up the train tracks for a while before we could jump a wall onto an estate/industrial area. Managed to share an Uber with someone to the airport but so much disruption. No ATMs at the airport working and no card payments in the limited food shops that were open. We got on the plane only to be told we were having to wait for 5 hours. This rapidly changed and we were in the air within an hour. Interesting to see how pe

Little garden job finished apart from going back to grout it, I was done by 12 so thought I’d remove the old grout from the other paving and do the whole lot when I go back, it will make a much tidier job for the sake of another tub, not what I would of done with it but I suppose it won’t take any looking after

  20. A walk at first light on the local golf course that i haven't been on for a good while. Disappointed to not see any rabbits as the gorse bankings always held plenty of rabbits. Found a wren's nest though no eggs in it and had half an hour practice with the catapult in the local woods.

  26. You know I love you, in a very paternalistic, prodigal son way , I hasten to add ! LOL ! But you can’t sneak onto my very discerning group by trying to bribe me with videos ! It’s only for mature, well travelled , open minded individuals. When the scales are removed from your eyes and you can see working dogs don’t necessarily need saluki in them , then , and only then , you may be considered for elevation to to the lurcher world’s equivalent of the “Illuminati “…… Cheers.

To be truely honest with you and we both know we've never spoken to each other before ,but your offer is wasted on a man like that and it's a fecking insult to folk like yourselves who offer such a trip and the man who's been offered treats the offer like it's beneath him. You should keep your offer bud and maybe someone worth it will have the day with you and i wish you boys all the very best...

  36. Robin is definitely my favourite call (maybe because of nostalgia; reading The Secret garden when I was little etc). Second favourite, once again for reasons of nostalgia, is the blackbird. Another I like, both the bird itself and the call, is the dunnock; I think they're one of the most overlooked and undervalued birds in the UK. My favourite species is the wren but, although I like their call, it reminds me of those contestants on the Voice when they've only got a few seconds left and none of the judges chairs have turned so they throw everything at it and go a bit over the to

  41. No expert but I do enjoy the calls of the various birds, and particularly songbirds. Think I posted on another thread that the song thrush is maybe my favourite of them all. Other favourites include: A robin singing solo on a dark winter morning, weeks before the other birds have even thought about spring, but brings a bit of hope that it’s on its way. A Skylark in a field on a hot cloudless summers day, where there’s that hum of insect life all about you, and you have to squint up into the bright blue to try and spot the lark, a mere speck in the sky.
