and the bulb was a sealed one .but what a lamp coupled up to a smallish car battery.

having used all the new types none came close to this ,untill dropped whilst in a hurry, good old days.

QUICK UPDATE LADS

went to see a few different LED set ups and a HID torch...bad weather with all the rain etc etc..

checked out a couple of these LED torches that are quite popular from overseas,I was quite impressed with a couple of very small but quite powerfull pocket sized ones, one that ran off 2 AA batteries...they were good..but no where near good enough for our needs..But I am looking into customising one of these types of little LED into something more useful and powerful.

I also purchased for a bit of fun,a Maglite with a LED upgrade kit(not a standard LED..a SSC P7).its a 2D cell size that runs off 6xAA rechargeables ..Its got 3 gears low/med/high. and it will run on a full charge at Max power for 45mins..Not a long time..(AA batts are small though so it would,nt be hard to carry lots of spares).

But its very bright and throws a good distance with quite a decent beam...I hav,nt tested it fully yet..but so far its looking like it might be ok for a quick mooch in small areas...its not gonna light up the coursing fields like a Blitz or even a good cheap halogen spotlight...but also it aint gonna get you in trouble walking down the street, and it could always double up as a great Kosh !

I also looked at a £350 HID flashlight/torch called a Microfire Warrior 35W ..... it was very bright...but quite a lot of spread even though the spot was good, the main problem was how long it took to get to full brightness.... about 30 seconds to a minute...from torch bulb brightness to max was way too long...im told there are ways to speed this up,but its still a slow start even at its best...The max power is good but i would want to tighten the beam up and reduce the outer spread...This is also poss with a few mods.. then they may become useable..

Theres one or 2 of these HID big custom power on board types that have been made by specialists that are mega powerful.. the beam is pointed upwards to the sky and is reaching 4 miles high... one of them should be ok for the long ears eh !

Theres plenty of filters etc etc for these types of lights..

Im looking into a few different lenses now... to see if its poss to get a real decent amount of throw out of the Maglite and also out of the smaller LED flashlights..

Aspherical is what im after now, going to try a few different combinations.

Ive not given up yet...stilll looking very promising...especially for the little stealth mode set-up. for the bunnies.

thanks again everyone for your help.

lol ok best of luck , take this or leave it ,get rid of any switches ,wire your lamp strait through ,your switch will be one end of the 2 wires just make it so you can put your thumb on it to make contact with the other wire that is fixed to the lamp ,if you get what i mean ,the reason for this no noise ,and nothing can go wrong ,like a switch breaking and you have to go home.

Guest oldskool

just for anybody interested in emailin the clulite team... this is the response i got... at least this person seemed to grasp what i'm on about but her idea that the bulb might be off focus is balls because i've tried all that fannyin about with the bulb holder etc and it doesnt get any better than the factory setting

Thank you for your valued enquiry.

We do not have any plans to bring out another lamp similar to the

Lazer/Blazer range currently but will keep your details on file and if

anything changes we will let you know.

If you are finding the beam on your Lazer/Blazer is too wide it may be

that the bulb has been knocked out of focus, a workshop manual with

focusing instructions is attached for your reference.

We will also pass your comments onto our development team.

Regards,

p. s .. i tried out a very very small Led torch tonight with an aspherical lens....it was excellent for 25-50 yards bunnies...very tight spot..very little spill or flood..and quite bright for something so small...ideal for mooching.

also tried out a modded maglite...it was very bright but too much spread and not enough spot.

Im waiting on a more powerfull pocket led torch now..to try out the different lenses.

so far ..so good.
