The way I understand it is this. A case almost full of powder is a column of powder, into which the primer fires, burning up the column in a controlled, progressive way. With a half filled (for argument's sake) case, the powder lies in the bottom of the case (like a half full bottle of water led on it's side). When the primer fires, it fires over the top of the powder, lighting the whole lot in one go, leading to the high pressures.

Might be wrong but I don't fancy risking it much!

Yeah that makes sense at last :) Cheers muchly :)

BTW, using the 35gr bullet for a full load is fine, the AA2230 powder I have has a load that's meant to shoot it at about 3900fps, might be worth a try :)

i wouldnt use 35 grain in 222 40 grain is better suited. got a mate with 222 and uses 40 grain vmax. expands a treat on foxes :D

I didn't intend to use it, it's just something I found on the Hodgdon site after it was said that there was no .223 load in 35gr flavour. So I just typed in .222, 35gr to see if there was one.

I can see that its perfectly possible to load a 35gr in .222. I've been advised not to do it by others too.

40 or 50gr were always my main choices :yes:

I think I have become a serious fan of this reloading malarky.... I am impressed by the time, effort, quality, expertise, variations, etc, etc involved with this option...I am therefore more than happy to give you a couple of quid on top of your costs to supply me with custom amnmo!!

Many thanks

:thumbs::thumbs:

.................but not just yet...get a bit of practice first...Cheers!!! :thumbs::thumbs::thumbs: .223/.243/.308 will do..all the common stuff, thanks!!
