I think you need to go with some one with experiance for a good few flights before of even thinking that you can just head of on your own , lie of the land , tides, and quarry identification, also i would advise you to join a club as insurance is also another thing to consider, is there somebody that you know that can take you out? it is a fantastic pastime i hope you enjoy it

thanks mate and no i dont i bought a shooting dvd and watched it and wanted a shotgun since :gunsmilie:

Well ladoh you asked a question and got a lot of experienced answers but obviously you know better must be nice at 18 to know all about wildfowling from a DVD! I'm a slaughterman to trade but I didn't buy a dvd to show me. I had to earn my ticket from scratch same goes for wildfowling you never stop learning :wallbash:

I probably bout same age as you dad and things change

JOIN a club {very cheap} be polite ask loads of questions BUT more importanly LISTEN we need young blood in wildfowling but you must be prepared to listen and learn to older experinced fowlers who will give you the time of day if you show them RESPECT. Put your name down for beating next season at you local shoot. does your dad know anyone who would take you out for the day pigeon shooting? When you are on the foreshore with the wild geese coming at you your adrenalin is pumping and all of a sudden you have got a bunch of barnies, maybe the odd whooper, and they are mixing in with the pinks/greys what would you do? Or you are on a tide flight and greenheads are pushing up the tide but so are the shellies, , teal, widgeon, pintail which one would you pull the trigger on? Yes question bloody questions :( but you need to be able to answer them in a split second on the marsh/tide flight

Good luck lad with joining a club

Cat amongst the pigeons?????

I think we should all pay for wildfowling, no matter how small the fee, and the money should go straight to the local authority in a very transparent manner to pay for collecting data and providing a ranger (happy face to visitors), and paying for leases. Clubs are only one way that it could be done, I would love to hear of NE/SNH, ministers and others thinking outside of the box to change the way things are done.

New thread anyone?
