How do you check the seals on a springer? To be specific a supersport. i am tring to figure out the reson for inconsistant power. I putt an old pellet tin 10yrds away and fired 2 pellets one pellet went through just the lid and made no indent on the other side the other passed straight through both sides.

If it's a break-barrel, check condition of breech seal 'O'-ring for wear. If it's an underlever, check the breech seal codition at end of barrel situated in breech (you may need to remove the barrel in order to gain access to this.

Do you have access to a chronograph and a set of accurate scales. If so, you can at least check the pellets for weight consistency and then see if the muzzle energy measured with say ten of these varies considerably. If the pellet weight is fairly consistent, then you may observe variation in the measured muzzle energy. If this is the case, then the piston can be removed from the rifle and checked for any signs of wear. In normal use, the seals will have an equally distributed slight smear of grease. Check for any dry spots or signs of uneven wear which may affect shot consistency. Hope this helps !
