Just being looking for the same;

I have a pair of Lowa Combat boots in Black - £132.95, superb, but now looking for a Brown pair of boots and i've raked about a bit on the Internet and the 3 pairs that i think are the business are;

Beretta Cadore for £165.95 - Here's the blurb from the Uttings.com website:

A full-height (20cm) walking boot with a 2.4mm full-grain leather upper, 100% waterproof Gore-Tex® Duratherm Ultimate lining, padded Cordura® to top for comfort, anti-torsion moldable insole for support, protective rubber 'rand' over the toe, Vibram® sole for ultimate grip over a variety of terrain and a removable footbed. With Beretta's innovative asymmetric lacing system these boots are superbly comfortable. If you can afford it there's a pair called Ferret at £219.95. OR

Le Chameau Mouflon Plus for £189.00.

Popular in the highlands when walking in deep heather, the Mouflon Plus provides added protection being an extra high boot. Superbly crafted from 2.2mm full grain leather on the outside and lined internally on the tongue and collar with soft leather. The Mouflon Plus also boasts a Duratherm lining for increased warmth. Manufactured with a fully waterproof and breathable Gore-Tex membrane and the remarkable Vibram Hunting sole for excellent grip across all terrain. OR

Meindl Dovre for £164.95 via a THL sponsored link:

Also, check out some previous threads about the same things.

Nothing to choose between the 3 pairs, all have gore-tex lining, leather, high rand and vibram sole. Just the monies?

Cheers

I can't speak for the Beretta boots, but have seen bad reports of Le Chameaus just lately, saying they have started using cheaper materials etc.

I can report on both the Meindl Dovre Extreme and the Lowa Mountain GTX though, got a pair of each, no preference between them although the Lowas are easier to clean when muddy.

Have had cheap boots in the past and you really do get what you pay for.

Mr Jigsaw .. these leather ankle boots you like .............. they wouldn't be patent leather with stilletoe heels would they?

my old digging boots are f****d iv seen new type boots that are like wellingtions but softer material like sponge.their 130 euro i have heard they are the job.dose anyone use them and what they like for digging
i have a pair of aigle neoprene welies 130 euros very warm and comfy but if you do a lot of walkin which i think you do your feet sweat like mad in them so your feet will get wet anyway also when your diggin in hard ground where you have to put a lot of force into what your doing you can realy feel it on the soles of your feet,get yourself a good pair of stalkin boots 100% waterproof and breathable and great for diggin and walkin in,i myself have a pair of aigle stalkin boots that i wear with a pair of wax chaps,that keep me dry up to the top of my legs and you can realy give the spade a good hamering,hope this helps

i swear by the muckboot neoprene wellies, they are the dogs c*ck but not for digging. i use them for lamping and ferreting and i cant fault them, i wore them digging one day and the bottom of my feet were in bits, id go for a boot rather than a wellie for digging mate
