Which books were those?? just a couple in last few years bud a looked forward to em but they didnt do it for me but a wont be disrespectfull n name names because others mite of enjoyed em,i have enuff digging tales with me n my old dog to write a book but cant be botherd really ,cheers pall !! PICK AND SHOVEL 4 Posted October 31, 2008 Author Report Share Posted October 31, 2008 can you please read the thread before you comment,i never compared this book to any other book. just for those who cant be bother to read what was put, "im glad your letting the book do the talking, the proof is in the pudding as they say, lets hope its a goodun, you can never have too many good books.i think what people expect from books is higher now than what it was before perhaps..... i dont think folk would get away with being a plummer these days, or atleast i hope they wouldnt." fair play i say, lots of folk talk about it but never doit, now we will see blucks efforts, no more complicated than that. Just for the record i think The Fell Terrier was a very good read and at that moment in time it was far superior to anything else that was available {ahead of its time]... Listening about men blowing trapped dogs from rock holes certainly got my attention. As regards to his other books i think his imagination may have got the better of him at times but despite that i read a few of them and on the whole they werent bad. Unlike those books, the one i have written is backed up by photos, 140 of them which show us Working terriers[Digging] and lurchers from the age of fourteen untill the presnt day... If people want to compare my writing ability to that of his then that's fine by me... The photos i have put in the book are the PROOF of what i have achieved as regards to working terriers and lurchers for close on thirty years.... I sit here with a smile on my face knowing that no one will be able to say... HE AINT DONE IT... due to the pics that are contained within the book... From as far back as i can remember i wanted to write a book on the subject.. as the Working of terriers has and always will mean more to me than money....When you read the book you will find out why. Giving something back to the sport in the way of giving someone the inspiration to start working terriers or to take it more seriously will be reward enough for me. Ive tried my hardest to produce something that will be accredited as one of the best if not the best on the subject so i hope it doesnt dissapoint. All books are different some are more reference books like... Terriers and Terriermen by JB a good friend who produced a good book... Some are more of a novel ,mines different but you'll have to read it to see what you think don't take the word of people who dont like to see others achive something they cant...CAUSE THEY AINT DONE IT...No matter what their name is.
