Good Walk

I went for a walk earlier today on a spot not to far from where I live to explore some new ground on footpaths of course, i parked in the pub car park and walked across the road to the footpath which was also part of a golfcourse, I had all 4 lurchers on the leads and my spaniel off the lead, within 2 minutes my spaniel had put up a muntjac! The lurchrs were pulling like mad and the spaniel went off yapping like mad towards a wood, I carried on walking knowing she would be back soon. I stood looking towards the wood and there was another muntjac walking around the wood towards me then it stopped and look at me and the dogs (god I was tempted to break the law!) the dogs went mad pulling at the leads and the muntjac ran off across the greens.

My spaniel came back and I decided to go back towards the car and take a different route cos there were to many deer about, I started to walk along the road and my spaniel jumped into a bush next to the path and put up another muntjac! Feck me I thought this place is crawling with them! I carried on walking towards another footpath sign and off into a wood. I then came across a guy walking a boxer off the lead (hope it doesnt break the law and chase and catch a munty or squirrel I thought)

I followed this path about a mile or so putting up a few rabbits along the way, with one lurcher off the lead, she had some good little runs, then I came to a lane and a ford where a few cars were parked and the old peoples dog walking brigade had arrived. They had a toy poodle and a very fat labrador, I let them go ahead while I decided to walk paralel with them not on the footpath, I kept all 4 lurches on the lead whilst the spaniel stayed off, again she put up some more rabbits from the hedge rows, I could see the OAP brigade now with others all following the footpath with at least 4 dogs off the lead running fee all over the place, now I was hoping they would put up a muntjac!

After about another mile I decided to head back to the car and couldnt be fecked with the footpaths so I went around the field up to the road then crossed the road (it is quite a busy road). I was now on the same side as the pub but it was about 2 miles away, I walked adjacent to the road about 30-40 yards in the field, still with dogs on lead and spaniel. Whilst walking I was day dreaming of putting up and and watching my dogs have a run when from nowhere my spaniel put up a hare and was off yapping like mad!

My lurchers were going crazy pulling like hell but I resisted the temptation, I then started looking for forms and hares whilst walking and could see 2 hares in there form, my spaniels was on her way back and I thought f**k it, il give one of my dogs a run. I walked towards the hares still in full view of the road and got ready to slip my red bitch when I checked the road only to see the police slowly driving along looking my way! The lord was on my side, I diverted away from the hares back towards the car, as I crossed the hedge into the final large field with wheat about 6 inches high my instinct told me there would be more hares.

I kept close to the road and put up another 2 hares, both got up about 10 yards away about 30 seconds apart, spaniel was off and lurchers were pulling my arms off again! When I finally reached the car I felt a bit tired but I was truly buzzing about how much game I had seen so close to home, I did find it hard not to slip my dogs but I can assure you I will be going back at a less busy time! lol

It was a wicked walk and there are miles more I have to discover but next time il just take my spaniel and one lurcher so we can have a proper mooch!

Happy Hunting oops sorry dog walking! :p:p:good:

Nice one Snatch...

I'd say the fields where I mentioned today were more open and much better for night time few more parking spots and twice as many Muntys there are also good numbers of Fallow , in fact Munty heaven in most of the places I'll get that map I mentioned and show you the boundaries.

We will have a look Thursday night if ya want.
