I can get barley in 40kg bags but not wheat. Half ton or nothing. As I've to deliver feed to 5 different gun club members for their pheasants buying the barley would save me some time and work.

Is there disadvantages to barley compared to wheat? Price doesn't matter.

Thanks Waz. I think I'll take a chance with the barley. Some of the places we're releasing birds there'll be stubble or wheat still standing because of the weather. Neighbouring clubs shouldn't be a problem.

If it was serious I'd get the wheat but I'll chance the barley.

It makes life a little easier and after all I'll be getting no thanks for it, LOL.

Im the same, wheat is the one for pheasants. They just dont like barley, probably the tougher husk.

Ducks love barley, its what ive always used, and I also used to get sacks of windfall apples from an orchard, which they ate aswell (but only as an extra bonus for them on top of the barley). But if cash is tight, then free, waste fruit or veg is a good help.

Personally iv noticed my birds prefer barley stubble rather than wheat stubble's having said that iv always feed wheat to my pheasants and any old muck to the ducks

This country's wheat wont affect the world price of wheat that governed buy the other big countrys, the ones with the 1000 plus acre fields , so im told
