ase best on the market i think but it depends on if you want a front mounted can on the rifle.

most people dont as they like over barrel mods to keep the lenght down. but there isnt much in the added lenght on the front of the rifle from the t8 to the ase really ?

Depends which .223...I have a Tikka T3 Lite and originally had an ASE S5 on the end, the mod was first class but the Tikka is SO LIGHT the balance of the gun was terrible, just changed it for a Predator 8...definately improved the balance but I might still get an inch or 2 cut off the barrel, the Tikka T3 Lite has far too light a butt for most mods, so most cause a problem.

Mr Logic has a RWS .243 and he has the same ASE S5 on the end of his..its great and the balance is fine!!

So be careful..it's not just about a good mod..its about a good mod on your rifle!!!

the t8 will rust as mine did even if you look after it, as its mild steel plus it rings when fired so for the price theres so much better out there

the PES is better as its stainless so no ring but as the baffles are welded in and the construction is closed there will be NO cleaning and will rust near the welds as the carbides in the metals will run between thats where rust will start and as its closed you won't know untill a hole pops up

The wildcat looks great i've had a play and all seems good but the threads for taking apart for cleaning are part of the body my mates seized together after 50 shots no problems as its not welded so no weak points to start rust but will not be cleanable

I got a stealth 10 after this deliberation as the baffles push into a tube and the 2 end caps pull together with 3 rods through the mod all external threads nothing for the dirt to get a grip on so when cleaning can tap the baffles through!!!

It was the most expensive but i think well worth it, same weight or lighter than a T8 same length

I shot three cubs in 10 min and 100yards friday night!!!

A bit more...the ASE S5 which screws on the end of the gun protrudes 0.25inch (6mm) more than the Wildcat Predator 8, thats all. The ASE S5 is built like the proverbial Brick s**t house and I recon it will probably last an eternity, but it is not easy to strip!

The Wildcat is almost completely strippable, for those who seem to have welded them together a little advice...a hint of vaseline or gun oil on all the threads, ideally when the unit is brand new and it will come apart easy, top up during cleaning as required...

I have just changed from the ASE to the Wildcat after just over a year with it on my Tikka T3 Lite, The Wildcat is now on the end of it....personally I think the ASE is a tiny bit quieter but the balance of my gun has now improved!!

Trappa,

Check out A-Tec moderators. I own two in .243 and .308 and have never seen anything similar. Even friends who would not be swayed easily are now believers. It is very light, at only 500g, and fully stripable. All beautifully CNC machine made, to the point it is a shame to put anything through it! Check them out at http://www.a-tec.no/lyddempere.html

There is now a UK importer. When I first bought mine they were some of the very first in the country. Had to wait about 4 months for the toys, but the wait was well worth it.

Good luck.

They look a really nice mod. Im going to search them on a few sites and look for feedback.

At the moment im swaying with the jet z. It looks good and works great. Its not brilliant for balance as its heavy and goes on the end as opposed to down the barrel, but i will be using a bipod so that should help.

I might have this all a**e about face, but I thought the A-Tec hung off the end of the barrel too!!! Never seen or used one so someone else will no doubt straighten this out!
