In terms of basic training all you relaly need is good recall, retireving and jumping.....

You clearly have a common sence approcah to training dogs through your terrier experience,, otherwise you wouldnt have managed the above!.....

at six months she physically maybe able to catch the odd rabbit, but I woudl hold her off abit........perhaps back end of summer when Mixy hits ..........give her a couple of slips on easy squatters....this will give er confidence.

If she has to overstrech as a pup to catch...and fails.....she'll soon teach herself not to bother!!!!.......and either jack....or yip her tits off through fustration....again.....both absolute no..no's.

As long as shes got the prey drive...and you've got the patients not to rush things and drill in the basic training commands....you'd be suprised how easy it is to get a dog going.......................you're 75% of the way there already mate.....good luck

cheers Paul

thanks for the advice and the words of encouragement

am trying to hold her off on the rabbits untill she is around 10 months,

have had her up the fields casting out the lure on a fishing rod but she catches it too quickly,so just been using the rod and lure at the rod length and letting her catch it after a couple of mins, trying to keep her training interesting

she def has the drive

nice one mate
