I have hear of people feed from a carcase but they were flying to the lure not the fist. I haven't had that much experience with imprints as I prefer P/R birds Quote Link to post

I am in the planning stage of the mews and am invited to a club to hopefully join in April , but I tend to learn by watching and taking part, can any of you point me to a good teaching dvd? The club is in Rotherham and I've been warmly invited on the 16th April. heads bursting with questions!!!!!! Is it rue about siting a mews under a tree not being a good idea though, as this would mean a shift in layout plans? DR Quote Link to post

DR dont think it would be a good idea, incase a branch comes though the roof of the mews, you cant beat hands on info, theres only some much info you can get from a book or dvd, its the same story training any animal, if they act different to how they say they should in the book your fukd, you need someone you can turn to for help, and am sure someone in the club will only be to happy to help.. good luck Quote Link to post
timdog 0 Posted March 30, 2008 Report Share Posted March 30, 2008 Aggression and excessive mantling I found causes a lot of feather damage so be warned they are fragile little fella's. i wonder if feeding from a carcus may prevent aggression on a kill and excessive mantling... spar well done on the blackbird!! good hard quarry for a spar....classic flights my opinion on the above quotes...... ive flown spars for years and ive not had one aggresive yet!! i beleive the main reason for aggression is people starting to reduce the spars weight before its fully hard penned trying to follow the mcderott recipe fly them at the correct weight,kill regularly and dont let them feel robbed!! heres my last spar which unfortunatly got killed when clipping a wire fence zero aggression me making a slight hash of the trade off Quote Link to post
