Recommended Posts

FIRST OFF LADS I TAKE EVERY THING BACK I SAY,D ABOUT SFS

this old 77 is one of the nicest rifles iv ever had the pleasure to shoot

no noise from the cocking action what so ever and i MEAN what so ever just the slightest of click at the end when she locks into place .

Jon iv had some nice rifles off you mate

but this old girl takes some beating .

the stock will be stripped this afternoon mate and im going silver on her(NOT THE ACTION LADS LOL)

IM GOING TO DO THE SAME AS JON.S TX200

i saw a hw97kt fitted with all the brass even a brass cocking aid  like a tx200

so im going to sort them in the next few weeks

and a bis adjustable butt pad

iv got some thing special in mind for the stock Jon

No mate, I`m not holding my breath .

               I`ve just lost out on a HW80

It was a mk1, pristine condition and .177, he decided to keep it longer and I nearly got it for £200, - his asking price.

                Ah well.

                I`m pleasantly searching for old HW`s 35 E, 77`s and the superb mk1

...... I've got a TX cocking handle here somewhere - I never even thought about putting it on there.

Any idea what you'll finish the stock with yet?

Its going walnut that much i do know jon

but im thinking of making some nice Tiger stripes on her as well

or i may follow the pattern of the grain in the butt end of the stock

all the way through the for end if i can do it

then it will be finished with tru oil about ten or 15 coats

First two light coats of walnut stain

on her Jon

You know what she has some nice grain in her i may leave it the way it is

and keep her a classic with a touch of new .

plus she has some lovely gold fleck in the stock to.

........ It's sometimes hard to see all that nice grain with that lacquer that the manufacturers bung on there.

And, you know I like that wood and silver look

This is only after two light coats of stain

if you wet the stock after the stain has dry,d you can see what she will look like once the oil is on
