back when I started a long long time ago ,saluki was introduced direct to peoples existing lurchers to improve coursing ability, but little did they know just how important these crosses would become

I’ve always worked off the principle that if a animal was bred for a specific purpose the pups will be genetically predisposed to gravitate towards that purpose, actually catching game in this ca

breading the ideal lurcher is a tricky one to say the least, some want this some want that etc etc,, not to big not to small, with coursing dogs it was slightly easier because its more of a specialist

As much as I like a good 1st cross dog... As you generally know what your getting and what to expect, and I've seen a few. I like Buck... I love Bryn... Either of these 2 over a Grew or coursing dog would still produce uncertainties in type, size, coat etc... I would much prefer a pup from the 2nd generation of the offspring etc. ....  Buck or Bryn's pup ...then put back to a similar type worker etc.

I myself would still prefer a Worker to Worker bred from Bitza Lurchers with not too much of any one particular breed, Just good strong well bred working dogs of a few generations with the history of parents and grandparents flowing through them.

One day we will all end up where we started... Collie x Greyhound X Deerhound x Greyhound. . . . . . . It worked because we made it work.

yeh vin,  dogs from proven line  over 6-8 gens  , that doing the job you want in your lurcher, is the way to go , like ive said on here and to you and tomo few times  as 1xs go both dogs have been good dogs , maybe ive been lucky  as on here . i prob end up getting a pup in from  lurcher x lurcher   proven dogs when the time right, no hurry  [BANNED TEXT] old Bryn gone could be couple  years away yet, dont want more than 2 dogs anytime, so plenty of time . all it was that Buck good dog, and shame not to use his genes , it wont happen as people stick to popular and conventional  dogs  racy type dogs  ,  still it was only thinking about the future , in 3 years time i might not want another dog anyway, when you get to my age , you start to look at thing differently  mate  it a twat  getting older .!!

I would have thought that the best use for Buck would be to use him as a stud back to Pure Shepherds and Alsatians etc... to straighten up all their genetic flaws. . . . He could certainly add what's lacking in a large percentage of the ones we see these days.

These forums are good really in that you get to chat to folk that know a lot about the dog's and even write books from experience

I might write one called the wazaks guide to hunting with my experience of wandering about aimlessly and falling over things it would be a hit

Maybe in a few years time,if you want another dog ,a dog like Brynn might suit you,he seems a little less full on and smaller and easier to handle.
