It's not exactly common though is it and would be near impossible to get the right dog. It's just bad advice telling an inexperienced person to go down that path and end up wasting time and money on  

Don't waste your time looking because there is a lot of small dogs that can't get up to a fox never mind a rabbit. If they could then nobody would bother keeping stinking ferrets. Get yourself a terri

True .and in some places you may dig a rabbit successfully.  Probably by accident even . And if it was one hole dug. But what's the, odds of that by the hundreds of the holes you came on. And you will get a freak one who bolt but that's just the type of holes or ground it's in . Digging holes everywhere to rabbits with a terrier is very changeable and dangerous enough for a terrier being stuck .
