Wood stocks do occasionally get dinged up but I wouldn't worry about polishing the wood. Not very often anyway. Plastics always good for a gun that's going to be used and abused and be chucked about a bit, like when duck shooting. Never been fussed about dinged wood (unless serious), just adds character. I have OCD for good clean metal work tho haha. Hate rubbed away blueing or even the slightest rust

You can do the first time. Besides the gun is a tool, a partner even, in the field. They get scarred up sometimes, as we do we haha. But i get what you're saying the first major scratch is a heartfelt affair

I loved my hatsan had two of them and both cycled mint ...there a bit of a lotto...

I paid 600 for the franchi affinity and to be fair I found it exactly same as the hatsan

I might of been a bit harsh on the hatsan, my mate has an old escort and it shoots anything, I gave him some old paper cartridges and it fired them no bother, I must of just got a Friday afternoon gun when the little Turkish fella wanted to get home to his kebab, saying that it’s the only gun I use if we are flushing fox on the pheasant shoot it loves a 45g mini mag or a big old 50g

I am always a bit sceptical about comment like it kicks like a mule and its a pile of junk. Generally it's  operator error or someone just picking up on what someone else has said about something. One of the son in laws has an escort and it has never missed a blink. It isn't pretty it is just a mechanical tool with a lot of plastic but the results are no different if he was using a £50,000 Purdy hand crafted gem purpose built and cited to him. If it didn't work we would engineer it to work . And if he couldn't shoot it we would get something that he could shoot with. No room for anything else.

I loved my escort and it never missed a beat. I don' do much pigeon shooting so never bothered with light cartridges though. It was used and abused as a vermin gun and is now doing the same job for a mate of mine as I was given a winchester pump action and didn't need both.

For the money it’s worth a punt, as a knock about gun you don’t mind if it doesn’t cycle now and then, the one I’ve got 99 time out of  100 will cycle 36g or heavier, it jams about 1 in 4 with 30g, it’s ok for bashing crows and it works well with geese loads, it’s certainly no benelli but what do you expect for a couple hundred quid

Hi this is my first post as a newby and seeing the thread I could not resist showing my best gun.

It's a 1890 Richard Ellis 12g 65mm chambers and a joy to shoot. Have not brought anything down with it yet but it's great on clays.
