Asking when a dog is ready is like asking how long is a piece of string. They are all completely different and even litter mates will be ready to start at different ages. Dogs mature mentally And physically at different rates and there will never be a set time there will be youngsters that can a handle a few runs at 7 months for example then there will be others that won't be ready until their over 12 months. Watch how the dog moves and turns and runs when it's playing look at how physically capable it is and how mentally ready it is ... if your happy with all of these points give it a couple of easy slips if your not then wait a while until it is ready ......

You won't go far wrong listening to Ken , when he's got his sensible head on and not his aggressive threatening head on.

Shows no respect for your quarry and teaches a dog nothing.

What like? By blinding it with a lamp so your dog has a better chance of catching it? ?
